    • Here's a link to the stream. They repeat the news allegedly on the top of each hour.

      • San Diego radio station breaks this news, which means we can expect Chip Brown to post about it tomorrow.

Any idea what the Texas legislature is going to do?

This is how it works... somebody on CUF posts something to this thread, the press picks it up because they are lazy and CUF is their best news source, they ask Neinas about it in the Big 12 conference call, Neinas tells the press that it is not happening now but keeps the option open for maybe in the future, the press takes that as a yes, and the next thing you know The Chronicle of Higher Education (whoever that is) saying crap like this:

Further Big 12 expansion is “very possible,” two high-ranking sources told The Chronicle. An expansion committee, dormant for months after the conference accepted West Virginia and TCU into league play, will meet today to discuss its options.

While conference officials stressed that no decision is imminent–and there is some opposition to moving beyond the current 10 member institutions–two schools are at the top of the list, should the league make a move.

Louisville, which the Big 12 considered adding last year, is the likeliest choice, according to people with knowledge of the talks. And Brigham Young, another university the conference has considered, continues to be a possible target. One official said the league was open to adding just one institution. “The Big Ten made 11 work for a number of years,” the source told The Chronicle.

                • The CUF controls the media thesis.

Is it possible that the originating poster(s) are also direct sources to the media as well?

                      • Psychology is fascinating. This should happen. Everyone here was emotionally "bought" into the B12 and then the subsequent let down was enormous.

In financial markets normally the best time to buy is when no one cares any more.

I doubt there are many buyers out there, so I'm pushing the chips in. Buying BYU in the B12

Confusing metaphor. Since the cost of believing the rumor doesn't rise over time, why not wait to "buy in" until the last possible moment or better yet, dont buy in at all. Your risk is greater buying in now (emotional investment you referenced) and the reward in the end will be exactly the same for everyone, regardless of whether you bought the rumor.

when everyone believes, the marginal benefit of being a believer and being right is de minimis. When no one believes, and you are right, the marginal benefit can be substantial.
