It wasn't one bit clever and was entirely obvious from his first posts. Makes me think he's got some, uh, issues, to deal with.

While, AA, I have deeply regretted my uncalled for, gauche and shameful personal attacks on you, I have not a single regret as it relates to Catblue.

Chip seems a little off on his math given he assumed that the new members will be given a full share. In year one, the new members will be given only 50% of the full share or around $8.2M. In addition, Mizzou and aTm will be paying the big 12 huge exit fees. In short, the original members will be getting $18M-$20M each in year one even if the Big 12 goes to 11 or 12 teams.

Also, why would the Big East conference be going anywhere any time soon? They still have a bunch of non-football schools and there are reports they are sending out invites for additional football schools to join. In addition, if the Big East did go away then it seems the remanding members could sue for the lost in revenue due to any team bolting early and not waiting the required 27 months.

Executive summary for SU: BYU may be still holding out but will most likely get everything it wants.
      Oh...my...god

Chip is having a hard time connecting the dots.

Gee, BYU with non-football in the WCC. ND with non-football in the B12. Non-sunday play a non-issue in football.

ND de facto alliance for 6 games a year with B12, or roughly what will be half of the B12.

BYU/ND talking seriously about a longer term type arrangement in football as we speak.

Hmmm, Chip, what do you think is going to happen??

Oh yeah, BYU getting called by others right now. Your move, B12.

      • West Virgina is in, again.

        http://brett-mcmurphy.blogs.cbssport...32522/32980106

West Virginia has been invited to join the Big 12 Conference, college football industry sources told CBSSports.com Friday.

The Mountaineers will accept the invitation, sources said. The Big 12 is expected to officially announce the invitation later today.

The Big 12's board of directors voted Friday morning and chose West Virginia over Louisville. They will stay at 10 schools, a source said.

On Tuesday, West Virginia had received a verbal offer to join the Big 12, but then the league put the Mountaineers on hold because the league’s board of directors wanted to perform “due diligence.”

The league was split between adding West Virginia or Louisville to replace Missouri, which is expected to leave the league for the SEC.

Missouri still hasn’t officially left the Big 12. The Tigers are still negotiating an exit fee to leave the league. The SEC’s Digital Network, an official website of the SEC, accidentally posted a story Thursday night that Missouri would join the SEC on July 1, 2012.

If Missouri joins the SEC next season, West Virginia may have to wait until 2014 to leave the Big East for the Big 12.

The Big East has a 27-month notice before teams may leave the league. West Virginia is the latest team to announce its leaving the Big East Conference. Pittsburgh and Syracuse are headed to the ACC and TCU will join the Big 12 next season.

        • So now Chip has ND as our biggest obstacle to Big 12. They stay at 11 to wait and see if ND wants to join.

And after all we did on Prop 8!!

I wouldn't read too much into a typo on an internet sports message board.

There's little upside to posting what now three different people have told me.

So I'll give the conclusion: B12 has one shot to take BYU here. If they don't, tudo bem, and we might be better off without the B12 anyway.

                    • Sounds like thamel confirmed the mcmurphy report and WVU is in, louisville is out and they are sticking at ten teams.

                      Big12 is shortsighted and dumb.
