I would like to know which of these items the TV partners couldn't give up. If they wouldn't budge on the no Sunday play, then that's that. Nothing else could be done. But all the leaks we heard centered on BYU's demands to be on national television a specified number of times and rebroadcast rights. It seems like the TV partners could have been using the Sunday play issue as a trump card, knowing BYU couldn't compromise on that, in order to get BYU to give in on the other demands.
They could say "look, we'll give up the option of holding the tourney finals on Sunday, but in return you have to give up your demands for minimum appearances". I have no idea if this is anywhere close to the truth...I'm just type-thinking.Comment
