But, yeah...I get your despair. I'd be pretty incensed if Utah had turned down a PAC offer. Sure, the PAC might have had to go to 14 or 16 in the future. Maybe Utah/BYU go to a Big12. I mean, there were, perhaps, opportunities if Utah had passed up the PAC, but it would have made for very little comfort had it happened. I understand.

All I'm saying is that as I sit back as an observer, all that's really been said is that the Big12 is happy with 10 until it isn't and will, again, go looking for suitors if Missouri leaves. To me, that would seem the best scenario for BYU...one team leaving.
I have searched high and low for evidence that BYU received an offer and found none. When TCU received an offer it was a big event, both sides voted, TCU had to deliberate formally, etc.

I think BYU received an offer like Air Force did.

Flystripper agrees with me, and probably everyone else outside the BYU circle.

    • SU, we get it. You don't think there was an invite.

GM, Notre Dame will tell you it wants to stay independent. Why won't BYU just say that? What's it scared of?

        • One thing I am sick of hearing: "IF we win Independence is great!"
Sure it is, but winning a lot in the Big 12 will still produce more than winning a lot with our independent schedule.

Losing in the Big 12 will be even more better than losing as an independent.

There are really no positives of independence over big 12, unless you include one more espn game v a wac team versus a fox game v ttech as a positive.

            I've said it before:

Big 12= Loose first 4 games, win out rest of season by a point every game... BCS Bowl.
Independence=Loose one game, murder teams for rest of season... beg for a good bowl.

Ug, I'll hold the temper considering I'm running on rumors and tweets. I just hope there is a fantastic explanation for all of this from whoever dares take the stand and make a statement for BYU, if the rumors run true.

It sounds like CS has on at least two occassions.

I have never seen someone with more hate towards an institution/religion in my life. A lot of us joke and taunt our rival but from you it just comes from a whole different place. I have no idea what happened to you with the church/BYU but I can only imagine it was terrible. And to be quite honest, its sad more than anything. I have seen people like you go through life with hate in their heart and it has completely destroyed them. They were miserable and no one could stand to be around them. I am not saying that is you, but geez, you seem close.

If just seems like you are not whole on the inside (mind and heart). I could be way off and if I am nevermind.

SeattleUte is full of love. He drinks wine and goes to the ballet. I can't ever recall him sharing a terrible experience about the Church. He is simply a realist. Unlike most Mormons, he isn't afraid of facts. I'm the one with the bad experiences.

The alternative that is omitted is the one that I think is most pertinent:
Winning as an independent vs Losing in the Big 12.

It's obvious that winning in the Big 12 is preferable to winning as an indpendent. Likewise, losing in the Big 12 against quality competition is less painful than losing to WAC patsies. BYU has proven it can be successful against MWC/WAC competition with a couple of BCS programs thrown in. What BYU has not yet had the opportunity to prove is that it can win regularly in a conference like the Big 12. I'm not saying this is out of BYU's reach; just that it is unproven in this regard and that there is a real risk involved. One needs to look no further than Utah's start in the PAC-12. Just maybe the powers that be are factoring this in. Still I'd like to see BYU compete in the Big 12.

How does one prove they can win with a full BCS conference schedule without ever having a BCS conference schedule?

                                UCF-1.5 - 2.136 - .7
                                Utah-0.6 - .879 - .3
                                Texas-1.3 - 2.096 - .8
Another comparison for our ratings - Boise State's Friday night game against Fresno (a blowout):

                                Share - 1.2
                                Viewership - 1.685 M
                                Adults - .6

Our Friday night games, both close to the end, were only marginally more watched than BSU's blowout against Fresno, with about the same rating among adults aged 18-49.
