Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

Crazy to think about. I had a brief conversation with my Uncle to day he is a passive BYU fan and as devout as they come. He said that BYU would be doing a major disservice to the LDS church if they acted "like everyone else" and backed out of their contract with the WCC. Furthermore, the fact that the WCC is made up of religious schools make it even more imperative that BYU (which represents the Church) keep its word. I guess it wouldn't be surprising if Salt Lake was responsible for turning down an invite (if it was extended) for this same reasoning, even if Cecil and Tom wanted to accept.Originally posted by PolyCougar View PostMy head is spinning... if all goes as it is right now: Utah, TCU (twice), and possibly Air Force (Big East) could all be auto-bids before BYU... wow.

I don't know that your uncle's attitude is overly prevalent. My father is as devout a member as they come (served as a Bishop and currently on his second tour in a stake presidency). He sees nothing wrong with leaving the WCC as long as the obligations of the contract are met. He also will be extremely disappointed if BYU passes on this opportunity because of anything other than Sunday play issues.Originally posted by USU Coug View PostCrazy to think about. The economical impact of the Big 12 tournament on KC...
Mizzou needs to move to the SEC so the Big 12 tournament can be moved to Dallas. It is the latest push to keep the Missouri Tigers in the Big 12: the Kansas City Sports Commission along with the Convention and Visitors Association took out a full page ad in the Kansas City Star, directed at Chancellor Brady Deaton.
[...]
In the letter, the Kansas City Sports Commission said they want their thoughts to be known and “cannot imagine the University of Missouri’s Athletics tilting away from this region.”
Cindy Smith of the Sports Commission said the letter is intended to let Mizzou know how much it is valued in the Big 12.
She also said the conference brings big money to Kansas City.
“Over 60 percent of people who go to the Big 12 tournament are from out of town, so it is not just locally driven, so what that means is a lot of people are staying in hotels, spending money in restaurants, buying souvenirs and buying tickets. When you factor all that together, for a three or four day stay you come up with somewhere in the neighborhood of $15 million,” said Smith."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
"I honestly believe saying someone is a smart lawyer is damning with faint praise. The smartest people become engineers and scientists." -SU.
"Yet I still see wisdom in that which Uncle Ted posts." -creek.

Ummm.....you haven't been invitedOriginally posted by Cougarmandias View Post
Yep, I'm IndyCoug all right. Can't put one past the local savants.
Good thing y'all aren't the ones running BYU's football program, because if we had that level of acumen up there, we may not have been invited into the B12.

Your uncle has no clue what he is talking about. maybe you could enlighten him by telling him that byu'so agreement with the wcc allows byu to leave for the B12. I doubt the decision makers are as uninformed. So I wouldn't worry about that.Originally posted by USU Coug View PostCrazy to think about. Latest from Chip
He has been accurate with all this stuff. If this happens I have a hard time believing that the Big-12 will add a team from a third time zone. That's the impression I get at least.@ChipBrownOB
