      • I think too many people are convinced BYU to the Big12 is a done deal. I think it is possible, but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen.

I think, perhaps, the only person who hates BYU fans more than ute fans hate BYU fans, is Bronco Mendenhall.

Really? You mean they won't stay at 13?

"The addition of Texas A&M as the SEC's 13th team was a good one, Hart said, but the league's leaders must take their next steps deliberately."

Doesn't sound like anything is being announced for a while.

My dad used to make irrational decisions all the time under the premise of "the spirit" or the like when the rest of us knew he was being stupid. BYU could very easily be stupid in this matter.

              • Journalism is dead

It’s impossible to tell just who is responsible for what in the middle of so many rumors, but it’s clear the Big 12 has life after Dan Beebe after all. In fact, Chuck Neinas might be the best thing to hit the Big 12 in a long time. With rumors of Missouri staying put in the Big 12 despite some reported overtures or interest from the SEC, now even bigger news comes with the addition of Brigham Young University that some sportswriters wondered about from the beginning.
They actually use BYUdeepthrowt as a source in that story. Also using a a Chris Level tweet (Texas Tech guy). Anyone know anything about him?

Not to be picky, because 'dribble' really describes what comes out of some people's mouths, but the typical word here is 'drivel'. Just trying to be helpful.

                  • I just had my first "real" conversation with a guy deeply connected to BYU, the institution (as opposed to someone focused the athletics). There are rumors that donors are being contacted. Maybe. But not him; hasn't heard a peep...and he "owns" BYU alumni relations along the Pacific coast.

Not saying it's not happening, but if you are hearing from people that major donors are being contacted, I'd guess unless they are Ira Fulton and a few others (i.e., the few "impact" donors), it's highly unlikely to be true.

Sadly, Ira Fulton's business went belly up when the real estate market tanked. Bankrupt.

two deep were partial qualifiers. Look it up. Coaching is fine. But as the Bootlegger's Boy stated on page 69 of his modern day masterpiece, The Bootleggers Boy, "It ain't the xes and the oes, it's the Jimmies and the Joes." There is a reason Doctor Tom Osborne quit coaching shortly after he was cut off from his recruiting base.
That's complete BS and an internet myth on KSU message boards. The last MNC team was 1997 and Nebraska had few if any PQ as they were resricted to one per class in the Big 12. Perhaps you are referring to the 1995 MNC Nebraska team that had 6 PQ on the 2-deep (out of 44). That's a far cry from the 22 you allege. Nebraska also had 3 academic all-Americans on the 1995 2-deep. I can provide a 2-deep depth cart of the 1995 team if you like so you can then point out the 22 PQ.

Nebraska currently has 4 starters that are Juco transfers and 3 are from Kansas JCs. Several more are on the roster.

I had assumed his donations were made on a free and clear basis, but maybe not?

I don't know how much, if any, he owns, but Fulton Homes is still in business.

I'm sure he's not in the poor house, but probably not making it rain at ASU and BYU anymore.

Yeah, he and his wife gave away over $250 million to ASU and BYU. I was in the Engineering College at BYU when they named it after him following a large donation. Fulton Homes entered chapter 11 a couple years ago, but I don't know what their prospects are going forward. Ira's mug is still on the website, though.

So why would major donors be contacted if BYU was staying independent? To let them know that we are still playing Weber St next year?
