Apparently mizzou has an offer to the Sec and has 24 hours to accept, or it's going to WVU.

Typical of Mizzou.
Flying a freaking Beechcraft King Air prop down to accept the bid. Now Beechcraft is a fine Kanzas company, but a dam King Air is something you hire out on a fishing trip. At least have that Walmart guy spring for a dam Beechcraft Premier. Serves em right those grand poobahs from Missoura vibrating all the way down yonder in an egg beater. At least BYU had enough class to fly a Cessna Citation down to Dallas the other night. Come on Missoura, support the Wichita economy by putting some real iron in the air.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post
This is getting ridiculous. Missoura leveraging those 4 Big 12 softball titles and two north division football credits into an invite from the SEC? Almost as bad as the CU Buffs leveraging their mismanaged financial woes into a Pac 12 invite and making the Yutes pay for it. Fer gawd sakes, someone please explain why all these fancy Superconferences want to drag these highly populated wannabees into the fold? Geesus, KU has done nothing but slap the Big 12 around for 15 years on the court plus won a dam Orange Bowl and we're on the the outside looking in? They're leaving us? Missoura? You're effing kidding me.
And, by gawd, Slive, you get what you pay for. Enjoy waiting hours on the Missourians in that crappy arsed King Air flying around the weather. If you'd have played the cards right, Chancellor Bernie would've been there hours ago in a more appropriate Wichita product:

Gawd, I can't wait til they write the book on this mess. It will be fascinating to uncover the manipulations that are going on behind the scenes. The SEC may make alot of money. But it's peanuts relative to the real poobahs in this story.

The LHN isn't the dealbreaker.
Missoura being a bunch of wusses is the dealbreaker. Texas has coming to it what it has coming to it. Build your own network, Missoura. Use the feed from BYUtv/LHN to feed your network. Like KU. Play the dam game like a man. Don't run and hide under Alabama's skirt. Good lord, was the old Big 8 really this whimpish?Originally posted by CougarmandiasRight. So if they aren't totally thrilled about being in the B12 long-term, why not demand that things be arranged to your satisfaction before you commit? Its (reportedly) what the Y is doing.
Honestly I would rather Mizzou stay. They have more fanbase, a more contiguous location, and a larger TV market than any plausible replacements.
Also, their complaints about the Longhorn Network make sense.
But we shall see what we shall see. My view is that Texas is willing to burn the world down before it gives up anything more on the Longhorn Network.

Just like that? I recall that when aTm was going to leave the Big 12, there was a big deal made of the fact that aTm had to first leave its current conference and then apply to get into the SEC. Plus they had to do it by August 31. Plus, there had to be a vote of all the SEC schools.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostApparently mizzou has an offer to the Sec and has 24 hours to accept, or it's going to WVU.
That seems like a lot to have taken place in the last few days, especially given reports that Missouri was making a run at the B1G (again).
Anyway, if true, so this really comes down to high school highlights on LHN?Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

Just a couple facts on Missouri:Originally posted by Viking View PostSheesh, what's the SEC's endgame here? Poach aggy and mizzou? It's like a bad joke...
Are Florida and others complaining that they need a few more puff teams to pad the schedule?
I guarantee you that no one is blocking Mizzou's exit.
Never won a national championship
Never been to a bcs bowl
Last conference championship was in 1969 (that's before I was born)
Stadium holds 71,000 but the barely put 60,000 in the stands when Kansas comes to play. Rarely do they sell out.
AAU member (this is a strike against them going to the SEC
)
The SEC may want them for their tv markets, but that's like adding Rutgers to get new jersey/new york. Sure Missouri is a decent program, but BYU is better and WVU would also be better. I'd take WVU anyday and twice on Sunday, but my preference would be for Missouri to stay and the Big 12 to go to 12 by adding BYU, lousiville, and WVU."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Big 12 Meets, Offers New Members?
I realize this guy has been all over the place, but this report seems to capture what is going on fairly well.
Word from Dallas today is that schools like BYU, Louisville, West Virginia, USF and Cincinnati were talked about as future invitees, but no official offers have been made. Of course that doesn’t mean a lot of third party flirting hasn’t happened though, and we understand through various Big 12 official sources that some form of offer has been made to both Cougars and Cardinals, with others possibly coming after word from those two teams.
With nine current teams, the Big 12 wants to go to ten in 2012-13 with independent BYU, although the Cougars would have some issues. They not only have game contracts to buyout, but they also have locked in bowl games they’d have to get out of. While fans and the athletic department seem unified to go to the Big 12, there is some dissention among the board and the LDS Church, who seem to like the idea of independence.
There were concerns expressed by several Big 12 members about the BYU policies of no Sunday games and the older ages of players, due to LDS missions. However, those problems seem to have been put to rest, and if an official offer hasn’t been made yet, expect it to happen within a few days to a week.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

Jon Wilner (mbn's fave):
Wilner's usually right about PAC-12 stuff, wrong about most other things. I think he's right about this one.*** My favorite realignment comment? That the Big 12 is considering Utah.
The statement comes courtesy of Oklahoma State president Burns Hargis, and I have to say, with all due respect to the Big 12:
If anyone has spent a nanosecond wondering if the conference could lure the Utes out of the Pac-12, that person(s) should get Beebe-ed.*Immediately.
(No wonder that league is in trouble.)

This really depends. Moving to the Big 12 could make sense if a team has value. Those 3rd tier rights can be worth something. Kansas, for example, made an extra $7.2M last year on top of their Big 12 tier 1 & 2 share. If a team doesn't have a lot of value then it would be better off in a conference that subscribes to collectivism so it can receive the welfare of teams that do.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostJon Wilner (mbn's fave):

I have a hard time seeing KJZZ paying Utah enough money to make it worth it to leave their current, covetable position in the PAC 12. There is no chance Utah leaves.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostThis really depends. Moving to the Big 12 could make sense if a team has value. Those 3rd tier rights can be worth something.
