Brown, Chip. Yes. I'm sure USC voted for Utah's admission. I'm also sure that USC has never made as much money on its sports as since Utah joined the Pac 12. On the field, both Utah's major DI programs appear to be ahead of USC.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostBrown Chip?
Kaboom has been a long-standing tradition on SC message boards when referring to big HS recruit commits, but beyond that not sure. The PAC 12 expansion was a sad time for SC fans and other PAC 10 fans, as we had to sit back and watch the conference get diluted.

Just about any addition to the Pac 10 would have led to the same for USC. You just happened to be one of the available, public, non-church-affiliated universities west of the Rockies.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostBrown, Chip. Yes. BYU does not meet the Big XII's similar if you can fog a mirror standard?Originally posted by Crockett View PostJust about any addition to the Pac 10 would have led to the same for USC. By virtually every single measure and every single sports-related measure -- medical school, cold fusion experiments, and women's gymnastics excepted -- BYU is a better addition to a conference. If we are all honest, we all know that the only reason BYU is not in a P5 so far is due to a politically incorrect religious affiliation and restriction on Sunday play. I will also honestly admit that I believe that there is only a small chance we still make it in to a P5. As long as ESPN remains our partner we can survive as an independent, although not ideal. If that goes away, then we are in big trouble.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostBYU does not meet the Big XII's similar if you can fog a mirror standard?

The "only" reason might be a bit of a stretch. SeattleUte has already agreed with your assertion that it is the primary reason, though. In other words, SeattleUte admits that BYU's athletics merit inclusion while the CULTure merits exclusion.Originally posted by Crockett View PostBy virtually every single measure and every single sports-related measure -- medical school, cold fusion experiments, and women's gymnastics excepted -- BYU is a better addition to a conference. 3D is correct; your post is passe. The only caveats are that BYU doesn't have a medical school (or much scientific research at all, because of the CULTure, apparently), the only people who regard cold fusion as anything other than a trivial historical fact are Ute haters like yourself, and the BYU CULTure does stigmatize BYU's in many respects admirable educational aspect. Were it not for the CULTure, BYU would have been admitted to a major conference a long time ago; but because of it, BYU will never get an invitation from the Big XII (which, after all, is comprised of universities, and some good ones including Texus Austin, which is like a Pac 12 oasis in Texas), or the Pac 12. I've been consistent in these positions since the dawn of sports message boards with a state of Utah nexus.
