I've never understood the UCF thing.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostCinic makes sense. Recently I have thought the next two teams to the Big 12 would be them and UCF. I don't see Memphis as a good option. Have to agree with you on that.
So, they want to have a presence in Florida, so they go for the fourth or fifth best team there? That makes no sense. That would be like adding Utep to get in to Texas more. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

Have you considered how close they are to multiple NFL stadiums?Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI've never understood the UCF thing.

Isn't Texas A&M or Texas the 4th or 5th best team in Texas?Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI've never understood the UCF thing.

Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

This is actually pretty common. Both the PAC and the B12 have already shown a willingness to take a lesser team in a specific geographic region. Conferences don't always add the best team, sometimes just the one that is available at the time.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI've never understood the UCF thing.

To get a presence in Florida. UCF is in a big market and they are part of a recruiting hotbed. Getting a presence in another recruiting area will be big for the Big 12. Texas recruiting supports the entire conference.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI've never understood the UCF thing.

At some point aren't you just kind of getting leftovers if you aren't UT or Oklahoma? I get that in a sense the top teams get the best players most of the time, but the ACC and SEC have all had much stronger presences in California, so I don't see, say, TCU or Kansas State all of the sudden going there and cleaning up because the Big 12 took the 5th best program in Florida.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostTo get a presence in Florida. I highly doubt the Big-12 adds anyone for the next couple of years. And if they do they probably don't add BYU. BYU fans need to learn to be ok with independence. If BYU was winning, independence would still be ok.This year has been an inferno of despair and disgust by BYU fans because BYU didn't live up to expectations and the University of Utah exceeded theirs. If one or the other doesn't happen, I think BYU fans would be a lot less menstrual.

They are just getting leftovers in Texas as well. It will open more doors in Florida.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostAt some point aren't you just kind of getting leftovers if you aren't UT or Oklahoma? Best thing about leftovers for K State and TCU is that they are winning the Big 12 with those leftovers."Take it to the Bank"

Baylor message board with a thread discussing b12 expansion. Some posters argue for BYU or at least use the phrase "BYU"
