I for one don't buy all this talk about the B12 not expanding. I think there is too much money to be made in a CCG. I also think that the B12 will match the SEC in membership due to the cross scheduling alliance, unless the SEC is ok making an alliance knowing that some of its teams will get left out. I think that the B12 is posturing to avoid law suits. I think Clemson and FSU are posturing to avoid lawsuits now that some others have opened their mouts too early. We'll see though. I have absolutely zero insider knowledge. I've just been trying to put together what I've read in multiple places. .

I have to agree with you. It makes no sense that 3 best run prestigious conferences (SEC, B12, P12) have all expanded but the B12 is going to be happy to go backwards. We have to keep looking at the P12 and what they did. Since, after all, the B12 just hired an AD from the P12 as their commissioner, who presumably thinks highly of Scott and P12 expansion. So what happened in P12 expansion? They swung for the fences and tried to lure Texas and Oklahoma. When they couldn't get them, they settled for 2 mediocre schools in Utah and Colorado. Conclusion: B12 is trying to lure big time schools like FSU and Notre Dame. All we can hope for is that those schools say no, and when they do, B12 settles for us in much the same way the P12 settled for Utah. But at least it's not over yet.

Why is that axis of evil? Isn't that what we outsiders should want?

Ideally, I'd have 4 conferences with 16 teams each. Each conference would have 2 divisions. The conference championship game would effectively be a national quarterfinal. Then, the 4 conference champs play in the semis. Turns out to be a pretty good 8 team playoff. I'm not going to be upset over 2 teams in the same division not making the semis.
