Most of the adult book stores are on the KC side of Columbia and technically not in God's country. There is a significant walnut bowl presence at Kingdom City (exit 148), but according to the new Church Handbook of Instruction, Volume 1, walnut bowls will be required in the Celestial Kingdom, so it's all good.Originally posted by YOhio View PostGod's country seems to be a hot market for adult bookstores and walnut bowls.

I know I shouldn't let it bug me, but MO is a beautiful state, and I've got some pride for my home state. I-70 cuts through some beautiful scenery, especially as it cuts through the Missouri River valley.Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

My family took a summer vacation to Ozark country every summer when I was a kid. I have fond memories of fishing for blue gill and water skiing on the warm waters of Lake Ozark.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

It must be rough having people be so unfairly critical of something you hold dear.Originally posted by atheistcougar View PostI know I shouldn't let it bug me, but MO is a beautiful state, and I've got some pride for my home state. Bowlsby sez: Let's not expand, but let's talk about expansion just in case
http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_...sion-on-agenda
New Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby doesn't want to see any future expansion in college athletics, but recent events have given him no choice but to put the issue on the Big 12's agenda, as it is on other conferences'.
***
"It's all about driving value for the member institutions," Bowlsby said. "There is a case to be made for optimal value being driven by the status quo, and there is a case to be made for some form of expansion. And I'm not prejudging or adopting either side of that right now."Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Because those being critical of MO lived in it for 30+ years, right? Your analogy falls flat. Anyway, knowing responses like yours would come is why I said I shouldn't let it bug me in the first place.Originally posted by YOhio View PostIt must be rough having people be so unfairly critical of something you hold dear.Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. My dad is a Missourian. My grandpa was a Missourian. My great-grandpa was a Missourian. I have fair standing in making a little sport out of that fine state. As important, speaking as a current resident of Ohio and a native Utahan, I've taken plenty o' barbs thrown my way. Probably time to thicken up the skin a little.Originally posted by atheistcougar View PostBecause those being critical of MO lived in it for 30+ years, right? Your analogy falls flat. I don't have anything against Missouri. I almost took a job in St. Louis a few years ago. I like the western suburbs of St. Louis. However, the I-70 drive through Missouri is a very nondescript drive. If you want to get a flavor of what Missouri has to offer in terms of scenery, then driving on I-70 isn't how you go about discovering it.Originally posted by atheistcougar View PostBecause those being critical of MO lived in it for 30+ years, right? If you've lived there 30 years, you should know that as well as anyone. But now that I know this is a sore spot with you, expect to have me hammer on this more often.

Yes, interstates are rarely put in the most scenic portions of a state, MO included. The ozarks are far more scenic.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostI don't have anything against Missouri. This need you have to hammer on people's sore spots must be born of some form of insecurity...Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostBut now that I know this is a sore spot with you, expect to have me hammer on this more often.
