If WVU can work out a settlement with the Beast to play in the B12 next year, then Mizzou can be released. Either way, they will have 10 teams next year. It isn't really that fishy.
A 27 month waiting period will mean that WVU can't join until January 2014, assuming an October date for the official invite. So the Big 12 will have to fill two years worth of holes and even if they force MU to stay for 2012, WVU won't be able to join in time for 2013 games.

Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

Its nothing more than we're dumber than a sack of hammers to have had any demands at all and to turn away from talks with the Big 12.

What is it with atheists and hyperbole?

The lawsuit is about wvu trying to get off a sinking ship early. It isn't so they can meet some deadline. It is about wvu trying to get to a bigger payout sooner

I can understand that, but that doesn't answer the uncertainty baggage they bring, which is not small--unless the court thing is a formality and everyone really knows when WVU will be joining. Even then, court isn't free.

I just don't get why a ready and willing BYU is being bypassed for...WVU.

                          Two possibilities

                          1. BYU is not ready and willing

                          2. WVU is more attractive due to BYU CULTure

I am going to go with number 2. This does not mean that BYU can't eventually get in to the Big 12 but only that WVU is more attractive.

Yeah, I agree with those possibilities. I'd have to go with 2 as well--but it's Morgantown, WV. Not exactly Berkeley, CA.

Which is why I think there's a 3rd possibility--although I can't quite figure out what that would be. Some sort of extended crazy negotiation ploy by both sides? I'm not defending this, but I can't really defend 1 or 2 very well either. It might sort of explain why this ridiculous Beast thing has gotten any legs at all.
