I'm staring to question the intelligence of these big12 decision makers and their infatuation with the number 10.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostWVU with a slight edge over BYU as a replacement for Mizzou

No doubt. Staying at 10 is a horrid idea. They need to get back to 12.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostI'm staring to question the intelligence of these big12 decision makers and their infatuation with the number 10.
As long as they get back to 12, then I don't care where BYU is "ranked" in invite order as long as they are top 3.

This seems to help explain the interest shift from BYU and others to TCU... The SEC wanted TCU to get another foothold in the Texas/DFW market. It seems that the Big 12 came on with a full rush and blocked it.
According to a couple of TCU sources, one of the conferences that actually called the good people over on University Drive was actually the Southeastern Conference.
The SEC inquired about TCU. Seriously. Not kidding.
This phone call took place before TCU gave the Big East the "We're No. 1"
sign and left for the Big 12. There wasn't much of a discussion, because the purple powers that be quickly decided "No, thanks."
As the Aggies will soon learn, the SEC is a "checkbook" league; large checks over the table, and big cash under it, too. TCU did not want to have to go to the necessary lengths just to be Vanderbilt."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Welcome! I missed your post until now.Originally posted by LamarCard View PostI didn't graduate from a Big 12 school nor BYU. I graduated from an FCS school, but I'm a fan of the Big 12. The realignment news is interesting, and I've been following this thread for a few weeks now. This is driving me crazy. I can only imagine how all of you feel.
I hope BYU winds up in the Big 12. With the addition of TCU, I think the Big 12 strengthens itself if it adds BYU also. In my wildest dreams, ND would add the non-football sports with a late season football scheduling guarantee. This way, rivalries can begin to be developed between BYU, TCU, BU, and ND. I think people would really buy into these rivalries, and the conference, as well as all of the schools, would greatly benefit from it.
Sorry to change the course of the thread away from Mizz, but I decided I finally wanted to chime in.
Did you graduate from Lamar? I went to watch BYU play a basketball game once there in Beaumont. It was a great game but unfortunately Lamar won in overtime. The Lamar fans were pretty cool, though.

Thanks! Yes, I'm a Lamar grad. I'm not sure when you went, but the campus has made significant improvements over the last 5-10 years. It looks very different than when I graduated. We also have Pat Knight as the head men's basketball coach now. We're hoping that great things are in store for us.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View PostWelcome! I missed your post until now.

I'm slow. What is implied by a "checkbook" league? Is that a Cam Newton reference?Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostThis seems to help explain the interest shift from BYU and others to TCU... According to Kirk Bohls of the Austin-American Statesmen, West Virginia is the top choice to replace Mizzou.

Hear the Big 12 backed off BYU, spoke of BYU's "different culture," whatever that means.
