The Dude of WV didn't like the news:

Well, that about does it for expansion. Let the record forever show I told you guys a deal between the SEC & B12 was in the works.
Christopher Lambert @theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
So... Expansion isn't as dead as I thought. Shows me my opinion isn't valued in Dallas.
Christopher Lambert @theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
They will lobby their Fellow B12 presidents to expand & work together to build a consensus on expansion.
Christopher Lambert @theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
Per B12 source: OU, WVU & Baylor believe expansion is vitally important to the Big 12.
Christopher Lambert @theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
OU wants a network. Need 14 for a network. Need to threaten the B12 enough for Texas to give up LHN & expand.
(Need 14 for a network? Someone should tell the Pac 12!)
Christopher Lambert @theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
Basically he told me the Big 12 can't agree on who to add or how many to add.
Christopher Lambert @theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
Starr, Boren & Gee support expansion - to 14. Hopefully a comprise can be reached and they can agree how to move forward."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

I wonder why the Pac-12 didn't vote...
http://espn.go.com/college-football/...old-title-gameThe vote by the council passed 7-2. The Atlantic Coast Conference and the American Athletic Conference voted against it. The Pac-12 didn't vote but later said it supported the change.
Mike Gundy doesn't like the idea of playing a rematch...
Big 12 coaches have publicly been divided on the topic of reinstating a title game, because such a game would always be a rematch.
"I don't think a championship game is the answer unless we're going to divide up South/North, East/West, whatever we want to do," Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said last week. "This year we would have played OU again. I don't think that's productive. I don't see what you get out of that.""If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

I'm not so sure. Wilner thinks that no Sunday play is a real issue, whereas you have said many times that it is merely a pretext. Wilner agrees with SeattleUte, 66.6667%.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostWilner agrees with SeattleUte, 100%:

More on the Boren response:
http://newsok.com/david-boren-would-...medium=twitter
Boren is on to something. Why patch a hole when the whole roof needs replaced. Why add a football title game when bigger issues linger? Why expand, if the same problems would exist?
Boren’s declaration that fixing everything at once — expand, ideally to 12, which would give the league a title game, while also implementing a conference network — would get the Big 12 back on the road to equal footing with the leagues it considers its peers.Brigham Young would be an interesting case. BYU TV is a major force — it was on my cable system at the Camelback Inn in Scottsdale — and the Cougars would have to move their athletic content from BYU TV to a Big 12 Network. I have no idea if that appeals to BYU; the current Big 12 system is perfect for the Cougars. But if BYU athletics moved into a Big 12 Network, that would open markets everywhere for the enterprise. BYU has a national following.
The other expansion candidates — Cincinnati, Boise State, Houston, Central Florida, East Carolina, whoever you think of — don’t really register much on the conference-network train.
But Connecticut and Brigham Young would be major additions."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Anytime anyone mentions Boise State I lose interest. It means they don't know what they're talking about. Read Wilner. He says in black and white that wins and losses don't matter. Wins and losses are ephemeral. The other desirable qualities aren't. (This should explain Colorado for those who still don't get it.) Boise isn't a candidate for any P5. There's not a smattering of a chance of that.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostWhen a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

You didn't even read the snippet I quoted, let alone the article. Typical SU tunnel vision."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

A different decision yesterday would have forced the Big12's hand on expansion and sped things up, but the same forces are still at work in the conference, and I don't think anything has really changed for BYU and the Big12. Obviously, the Big12 doesn't seem functional enough to follow any good logic (for now), but I think Boren has it right.
Longhorn TV has been a disappointment, if not a disaster, for both ESPN and Texas. Transition Longhorn TV into a Big12 conference channel, guarantee Texas a slightly larger piece of the revenue pie to compensate them for giving up their channel, then expand to 12 teams in order to provide both additional TV content as well as additional TV viewers. Then with 12 teams split into divisions, play a real conference championship game instead of some rinky-dink round-robin rematch."It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. To lose to Utah State is horrible." - John White IV

Agree that BYU's hope for Big 12 inclusion rests with UT giving up its LHN network and the Big 12 establishing a conference network. Not sure if the tea sippers in Austin will do it though. Maybe OU can apply enough pressure by threatening to join the SEC but the Sooners will have to navigate the whole grant of TV rights that all schools have surrendered to the Big 12. If UT agrees to a Big 12 network, then there is more incentive to expand the conference and add viewership. BYU has a national following and BYU TV is already established. Those factors along with BYU's facilities make BYU the primary target for Big 12 expansion.Originally posted by kccougar View PostA different decision yesterday would have forced the Big12's hand on expansion and sped things up, but the same forces are still at work in the conference, and I don't think anything has really changed for BYU and the Big12. Tea is not what they sip in Austin. And Texas has a Pac 12 mindset, so BYU has bigger problems than Longhorn TV.Originally posted by Paperback Writer View PostAgree that BYU's hope for Big 12 inclusion rests with UT giving up its LHN network and the Big 12 establishing a conference network.
