And as for the Big Ten and Pac-10, they’ve surrendered. They expanded so they could stage a title game. At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah and Colorado.

That's also why I was kind of surprised to see that not all that many seem to tune in to watch BYU play in bowl games.

How many households would you deem "that many"? If we are talking about a .6-.7 bump in Vegas Bowl ratings, that is around 700,000 households. No BYU doesn't have a large enough draw to make a Pre-Christmas Las Vegas Bowl against a 4th place PAC 10 team have similar ratings as a BCS game. At least not on a National scale. But apparently based on ESPNs findings the more than half a rating point boost is enough to want to sign a deal with BYU, especially when they can regionalize the games during the CFB season.

If BYU is added are we going to wring our hands and talk about how underhanded BYU treated the WCC by saying it was not a short term deal? Or do we hold that kind of scorn for Nevada and Fresno?

I know it's not rational, but there's a part of me that will be sad if BYU gives up independence to join the Big12.

maybe maybe not but in any case I am sure the WCC considered the chance that BYU would eventually leave before they agreed to let our other sports in.
