This is one of my biggest rants. I think I've actually been more excited at the prospect of Big 12 Basketball then Football. The Marriott Center was amazing for the MWC games, I bet it would go nuts consistently for Big 12 teams. Plus I wanna see Dave Rose stay for forever, and that kind of conference and competition would surely help. Nobody wants to play in Provo (see Dave Rose MC record), so it'd be nice if they just had too.Originally posted by YOhio View PostNo, even worse. Its Dave Rose. BYU mens bball coach. I agree with Yo. This upcoming season, the BYU men's basketball team will play in the West Coast Conference (which some people refer to at times as the "WCC"--I believe it might be an acronym but I'm still not sure. I'll let you all know if/when I get that nailed down). If BYU turns down an invite to the Big 12 conference, then most likely the BYU men's basketball team will remain in the WCC for the foreseeable future (according to sources). On the other hand, if BYU accepts an invite from the Big 12, then there is a decent chance that the BYU men's basketball team (remember--that is the team Dave Rose coaches!) will play the other basketball teams in the Big 12. There is an unsubstantiated rumor that Dave Rose wants this to happen. Thus, as YOhio hinted, if BYU declines a B12 invite, Dave Rose will be very upset.Originally posted by YOhio View PostNo, even worse. Its Dave Rose. BYU mens bball coach. First off...I think the Dave Rose angle has been discussed plenty, though perhaps not beaten to death as much as everything else. But I don't think it's a big deal. Dave just signed a big extension to go coach in the WCC. And I'm supposed to believe that he's going to quit because he has to coach in the WCC? Nah.
Secondly, I refuse to believe BYU is going to turn down any B12 offer that doesn't require them to play on Sunday (even though I don't care about the Sunday issue in the slightest). So the Dave Rose angle is a moot point.

This is hilarious... Notice his source for why BYU isn't interested in the Big 12:

Yeah I tend to agree a little bit more with this line of thinking than others. Basketball is a totally different nut than football since there actually is a tournament that decides the champion. Where will BYU have better access to the tourney, the Big 12 or the WCC? Yes, Big 12 teams are much more likely to get in as an at large team, but I would also argue that youre going to have a few seasons where you end up with less than 20 wins and don't get in from the Big 12.Originally posted by Jacob View PostFirst off...I think the Dave Rose angle has been discussed plenty, though perhaps not beaten to death as much as everything else. I don't know, LaVell was happy to dominate a lesser conference for 20 years. Who says Head Coach Rose wouldn't be similarly happy?Originally posted by YOhio View PostNo, even worse. Its Dave Rose. But if you're in the WCC, why do you even care about going to the NCAAs? You're not going to win it all. You want to go so you can play the best teams on a national stage, the kind of thing we get to do every week in the big 12.Originally posted by Sizzle View PostYeah I tend to agree a little bit more with this line of thinking than others. As far as that goes...you are not remotely likely to win it all from the B12 or any other conference. How many B12 teams have won the national championship since we went to 64 teams?Originally posted by ERCougar View PostBut if you're in the WCC, why do you even care about going to the NCAAs? You're right. They should go to a league that has put a team in the championship game in the last two years in the Horizon league.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostBut if you're in the WCC, why do you even care about going to the NCAAs?
