With all apologies to the fine attorneys on this board who graduated from law school at the U, stop using your law school at a sounding board for your academic excellence. Lot's of good attorneys come out of the U, but neither Utah or BYU are anything to write home about in the law school department (Disclosure: Neither is my law school, and it ranks about 20 spots ahead of BYU and the U).

PAC-12 AFFIRMS DECISION NOT TO EXPAND

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- In light of the widespread speculation about potential scenarios for Conference re-alignment, the Pac-12 Presidents and Chancellors have affirmed their decision to remain a 12-team conference. Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott said, “after careful review we have determined that it is in the best interests of our member institutions, student-athletes and fans to remain a 12-team conference. While we have great respect for all of the institutions that have contacted us, and certain expansion proposals were financially attractive, we have a strong conference structure and culture of equality that we are committed to preserve. With new landmark TV agreements and plans to launch our innovative television networks, we are going to focus solely on these great assets, our strong heritage and the bright future in front of us.””

So where are we now? Do OU and Texas and all the rest (except for aTm) go into counseling and figure out a way to live together in peace (and invite BYU and a another couple of schools)? Does OU still have any leverage over UT? Will the Sooners now show a little leg to the SEC?

Sheesh. BYU may end up like Utah last year: Standing by and watching in restless agony while the titans of the sport posture and bluff, then quietly taking its place at the table after all the sound and fury end. I hope that's how all this ends.
