Not going to happen, but that would be really funny. Can you imagine A&M crawling back.

Texas fan today told me he's sad to see A&M go because OU-Texas isn't a "real rivalry."

There is a 0% chance there are enough "no" votes and a 0% chance aTm doesn't go to the SEC. The deal is done and if aTm pulled out their fans would likely lynch the AD, President, Board of Regents and anyone standing in their way to get to those people.

Then we're back to the potential lawsuit that will ensue by the have-nots of the Big 12. In this day and age proving that the SEC was out in front of this the whole time should be easy, right? Damn, I knew I should have gone to law school.

I wonder if they would still invite BYU in the climb back to 12 should aTm stay? I am skeptical of the current appetite for super conferenceism and will be even more skeptical if SEC chooses to stay at 12. However, I am absolutely convinced that the Big-12 needs to get back to 12 and I believe one of those additions will be the BYU. I just think the Big-12 thinks it has the best shot to land Notre Dame and won't go beyond 11 until after ND chooses where to affiliate its football program.

What? The Texas-OU game is my favorite non-BYU game of the year.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I'm no lawyer but the lawsuit seems very unlikely of winning. I guess it's more of a scare tactic, but I doubt the SEC is worried. They can afford to defend a lawsuit. The money that passes through southern football is awe inspiring.

But it seems hard to prove tampering given that aTm supposedly was courted by the SEC last year before the Big 12 lost Nebraska. aTm knows the SEC wanted it to join and even if there is a discovery phase I doubtthere is much evidence showing the SEC continued to court aTm. Mostly speculation on my part, but anyone hoping for aTm to stay is going to be disappointed.

Oh yeah, easily my #2 "must watch" non-BYU game (I'm a huge sucker for the Army/Navy game... I'm usually in tears before the coin toss). I don't know who would ever say that OU/Texas isn't a real rivalry. Although I think Texas gets the BYU treatment on a larger scale... all conference members consider themselves a rival to the Longhorns.

And for the record... I wish this two-year old friggin thread would have a happy ending already!!!

My guess is that by fake rivalry he meant "game that Texas can't win half the time."

This. Some Texas fans wants a vassal not a rival.

Just like some Texas men want a domestic servant for a wife, not an equal partner.
