NCAA will be watching, but ESPN will be allowed to do news and information style highlights of high school games , per NCAA, on LHN. #hookem

Aggies now have something else to gripe about.

So I wonder if BYU can do the same now for Utah high schools? That would be sweet.

A great summary/overview of the SEC B12 expansion saga, from the viewpoint of the SEC. Compete with press links for all developments throughout the process.

Most interesting is how the writer breaks down the 3 most likely targets to tbe the 14th team in the SEC

The rumors at the bottom point out some interesting issues for the aggies moving to the SEC...

The first comes from Austin, Texas and the folks at Orangebloods.com — the Rivals site that covers the Longhorns. Yesterday, they noted that while it’s still expected that SEC presidents will vote to bring in Texas A&M, there is now speculation that officials at Florida, Georgia, LSU and Vanderbilt are showing some concern about expanding.

The Aggies would need nine out of 12 league presidents to give a thumbs-up before being granted entry into the league. If those four schools voted no, A&M would be left in no man’s land.
What they didn't mention but seemed to imply is that A&M would have to officially leave the Big 12 first before the SEC would even vote to add them (for legal maneuvering reasons). While it is likely they would add A&M the possibility of the aggies being left in "no man's land" is there.

Thamel’s source dropped another big bombshell:

“The official acknowledged that because of the length and structure of the SEC’s current television contract, adding Texas A&M and a 14th member would not be financially beneficial from a (television) rights standpoint.

Texas A&M and Team #14 are expected to receive a pro rata share equal to what the SEC’s 12 current universities are making: an average of about $18 million in league payouts. (Individual universities can make more money from their separate television deals.)

The SEC deal, which ends in 2025, has a few windows when it can be renegotiated but no one from the SEC or the networks expects any radical change.”

Worse, the Big 12′s TV consultant told Thamel that A&M could actually make more money in the Big 12 when that league cuts its new television deal in four years.

From Thamel’s view, A&M is moving simply for the long-term security the SEC offers and not for increased wealth.
If there is any truth to this last part then it seems the Big 12 could get A&M to stay by expanding back to 12 by adding BYU and some other good team. It seems if the Big 12 can get ND they should do it sooner rather than later. Brian Kelly has said ND would not rule out joining a conference especially if 16-team (super) conferences looks like the way of the future. The question is which conference would they join: the Big Ten or the Big 12. In the Big 12 ND could continue to have their own TV contracts or develop their own network like the longhorns. Maybe the Big 12 will be the first conference to expand to 16 teams.

The Never say never was in response to ND/BYU in the Big 12... the slow down part, I think is pointing to you guys coming over right now.

I am starting to get a feeling that there might be a New Conference coming with BYU being a founding member along with ND and the core of the big 12.

Makes a lot of sense where the Irish are concerned. Join= hahaha found=hmmm

Plus makes it easier to rewrite the bylaws to suit the unique situation of the Schools

As for the question of freezing funding of a public school? I have never heard of it done, but then I have never heard of a Public School tell it's State to F Off either. It seems to have pissed off enough high ups that I would swear they are ready to move A&M into the SEC school and all. Or right off into the Gulf of Mexico, either way would suit them fine.

My best friend since I was 8 is an ambulance chasing Red Raider but is extremely well connected.

He is 100% convinced the B12 has a deal with ND and BYU to announce next week. A&M ain't going nowhere, as he said it.

Oh Aggy is going somewhere... one way or another! lol

But only an aggy could survive the embarrassment of not leaving after all this. And never understand why the entire conference is laughing at him....

I'm not so sure Va Tech wouldn't go, they've been a member of the ACC for a total of six years. But yeah, the SEC's options for a viable 14th team begin and end with Va Tech, West Virginia and Missouri. I'm not sure how thrilled the SEC presidents would be with having two more mouths to feed with the same amount of money.

Which is why what Shogani says about the TV networks makes sense. Why would the Sec add more teams without an increase in money?
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

It's so nice to have people here who understand how bassackwards Aggies really are

God help us that one of them, Rick "1.9" Perry, is a leading contender for prez

It could be delayed while other things get resolved or put off until after the season is underway so it doesn't disrupt the teams this close to the start of the season. I cannot fathom how A&M can have that team ready to go with circus this month has been.

I could see the Aggies staying if the Big 12 announced they have ND and BYU coming for sure. Of course, to get ND the Big 12 would most likely need to be serious about expanding to 16 teams in the next 3-4 years.

That's the first I have read about LSU and Florida being cold towards expansion. I had heard that both Vandy and Georgia were opposed.
