    Stanford is the only school in the pac that could make independence work. It's probably what they are going to do.

      Selfishly, I'd love to have both those schools in because their stadiums are just 3 hours away from me.

        Not sure about that. In quality of athletics yes, but the reason why independence works for ND and a lesser extent BYU is because of the size of their fanbases which drive ratings and media partnerships. Stanford's alumni base is very rich, but very small, and they don't have an entire religion feeding it fans. I don't think an independent Stanford can get a media rights deal better than what they would get in the MWC. Just my opinion.

            I feel like Cal is the one school that needs the Big 12 but would absolutely refuse to go there out of principle.

                        It certainly won’t be surprising if Utah once again falls up. It would be great if that didn’t happen, though.

                        People thought the rivalry was acrimonious before - now put a bunch of scorned-yet-smug Utes and bitter Cougars in a stadium or arena together.

                          The Big West is a terrible fit, but probably the best fit.

                          Would they be able to work culture things out with all the religious schools in the WCC? That's the question.
