IRVING, TX (July 27, 2023) – The following statement was released today by the Big 12 Conference, through its Commissioner Brett Yormark, regarding the University of Colorado:
"If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
"I honestly believe saying someone is a smart lawyer is damning with faint praise. The smartest people become engineers and scientists." -SU. "Yet I still see wisdom in that which Uncle Ted posts." -creek. GIVE 'EM HELL, BRIGHAM!
"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."
"It's no secret that the great American pastime is no longer baseball. Now it's sanctimony." -- Guy Periwinkle, The Nix.
"Juilliardk N I ibuprofen Hyu I U unhurt u" - creekster
I learned today that his BY's wife is the daughter of a mobster. It explains so much. I love that guy.

@HornyMcFrog might not be the most reliable source.
"I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

The problem the league faces is that while the $31 million Colorado and the rest of the league will pocket annually is better than what's on offer in the Pac-12, the Big Ten and SEC will still make far more. Every year, the gap between those two leagues and the Big 12 will widen a little further until the situation becomes untenable to somebody, and it will eventually find itself in the Pac-12's situation.
So while Colorado's move to the Big 12 is good for the school and conference in the short term, nobody wins here. The Big 12 is simply losing more slowly.

This assumes money will keep growing astronomically in the Big Ten and SEC contracts. Where does the money come from when cable cutting catches up with the ESPNs of the world and there aren't enough fans willing to pony up for streaming fees? I think its more likely that when traditional contracts hit their ceiling or dip, those in the Big two conferences who could command their own standalone streaming fees will get restless and threaten the stability of those conferences.
Nothing is certain. We are in such unprecedented territory with the continued evolution of how we consume and pay for media as well as the new world of NIL, so anyone who has certainty in their predictions is blowing smoke. But I'm extremely comfortable with where BYU has ended up during this transition period.

Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

It's a zero sum game. Where does the money from? They pay less for the non-SEC leagues.
College football ended in its current form when Texas/Oklahoma went to the SEC.
