Speaking of which, does anyone know if the Corndogs beat the Wildcats? I hope they can beat the Boilermakers on Saturday.Originally posted by Bo Diddley View PostNo mention of Nebraska...

So I wanted to make sure that junkie was right or if he was lying about women's scheduling in the Big 12. I don't know where he got his info, but it seems that he isn't as correct as he and many of you think he is.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostYou are wrong that's how the issue is resolved.
Entire month of October they play 4 women's soccer games on Sunday, that's it for the entire conference of Sunday play.
November- 1 women's volleyball game and 8 non- conference women's basketball games, which BYU could easily schedule when they want.
December- 2 wbb.
January- league play for wbb is Wednesday-Saturday format. With an occasional Sunday game that can easily be worked around.
They don't play as much on Sunday as you would like to believe.
This link is to the 2015 women's soccer schedule. As you can see, there are more than just four games for the entire conference in the month of October. Notice that he conveniently didn't mention games played in August, September and November.

I'll give him credit for only one volleyball match in November and I'll be nice and not call him a liar about the schedule, because there are only a total of 4 matches the entire season on a Sunday.
http://www.big12sports.com/SportSele...3&SPSID=106102
There are a total of 12 conference women's basketball games for the season. BYU should be able to get around the scheduling on that, but notice that junkie decided that he only needed to mention the two games in Dec. Why not the rest of the season?
http://www.big12sports.com/SportSele...5&SPSID=106118
There's no schedule for the next women's softball team, but the last season there were 14 conference games scheduled.
http://www.big12sports.com/SportSele...&Q_SEASON=2014
I didn't see any men's basketball conference games scheduled for Sundays for this season.
Baseball will be a problem. The schedule for the upcoming season has the date of the first game for each conference series. All start on a Friday and baseball is almost always played with 3 or 4 games in a series. http://www.big12sports.com/ViewArtic...CLID=209404991
My point? Sunday play is a problem, not so much for men's sports other than baseball, but for women's sports, it will be a problem. And as I mentioned, the Big12 is not going to accommodate BYU just so BYU can get into the Big12 because BYU isn't a big enough name."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

Or BYU will just leave its women's softball team in some other league if its a big issue. BYU is not going to let the women's periphery sports get in the way of joining the Big 12.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostSo I wanted to make sure that junkie was right or if he was lying about women's scheduling in the Big 12. women's softball and men's baseball will prevent BYU from a b12 invite in the same sense that women's gymnastics and men's skiing helped utah get into the pac.Originally posted by falafel View PostOr BYU will just leave its women's softball team in some other league if its a big issue. Not true. Very easy to play a Friday game and a Sat doubleheader. Will actually make travel easier for baseball which (as you know) is a fairly demanding sport when it comes to travel. A close friend has a son who plays at NM State, with conference games up and down the west coast. Very common to spend 5 of 7 days a week on the road, most of the kids take online classes to keep up their academics. By including BYU and making the BYU series a doubleheader, baseball will cut down on travel for other Big12 teams and actually give back more rest/academic time to the players.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostBaseball will be a problem. In any case, arguing that no Sunday play is a deal breaker because it affects anything other than football and conference tournmanets is dumb."Sure, I fought. I've not followed college ball much the last 20+ years. How often are there doubleheaders these days? The only time I was ever a part of one was on a Sunday in the conference tournament final.Originally posted by San Juan Sun View PostNot true. Very easy to play a Friday game and a Sat doubleheader. If BYU were to somehow get a football only invite, I'd agree that Sunday play would be a dumb argument, but in the big picture of all sports, it's relevant. In the scheme of conference expansion/realignment, Olympic sports considerations are a very tertiary consideration. Football drives the bus, to pretend otherwise is fun to troll about but not really a factor.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostGames are played on Sundays."Sure, I fought. i doubt BYU moves its men's volleyball team to the B12, either. Since we already play in the elite MPSF (utah wasn't invited nor good enough, i think), a P5 conference affiliation would be a step down in that sport. Men's rugby (also a sport where Utah isnt very good) would not step down to a conference affiliation, either. Same with men's soccer, which is basically a semi-pro league. I don't think there is any requirement to park all of your sports in one conference. Perhaps for Utah because, as we already discussed, they don't have the depth and breadth to affiliate with some of the premiere olympic leagues, so i can see the confusion on EPU's part.Originally posted by San Juan Sun View PostIn the scheme of conference expansion/realignment, Olympic sports considerations are a very tertiary consideration. I just checked the MPSF...looks like most of the PAC parks many of its olympic sports in that league as opposed to general PAC 12 league play. The MPSF competes in 10 sports. USC participates in 6 of those sports, for example. Stanford in 7. BYU participates in 5 of them (mens v ball, mens swimming, womens swimming, mens track, womens track). Utah was apparently only invited to participate in one of them: women's track.

I don't think Olympic sports matter at all in conference alignment because so many schools already go a la carte anyway.
