I agree with the Houston argument, but don't get Memphis. Academically, it would rank very lowly and competes with a bunch of other schools for local prospects. Cincy might be a better option. BYU and Cincy could be good additions."Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."
Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Rutgers? Are you kidding me? Cincy at least has history of being good and has decent support. Rutgers has neither.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostOhio and Tennessee are the two largest states outside the northeast with only one major program. There are three major things the Big 12 is considering -- how much money will they bring in, how competitive are their programs and what will they do for recruiting.
BYU is better than those schools on the first two issues, but absolutely zero on the third item.
How is Rutgers support vs. Cincy? Was Maryland packing their stadium?"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Yeah, that's my point. Rutgers lack of support and crappy support didn't stop the Big 10.Originally posted by Topper View PostRutgers? Are you kidding me? Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Does anyone really care about academics? At the end of the day it's about the sports team.Originally posted by Topper View PostI agree with the Houston argument, but don't get Memphis. Does anyone here think Sunday play will not be an issue for BYU inclusion? The Big 12 is not going to accommodate BYU on this."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

No, I don't think anyone here thinks Sunday play will be a deal-killer. I guess I'm with SU here. BYU won't ever play on Sunday and there will be basketball games, baseball games and pretty much all women's sports play on Sundays. BYU is not a big enough name to dictate scheduling. BYU also needs the Big12 more than the Big12 needs BYU.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostNo, I don't think anyone here thinks Sunday play will be a deal-killer. Except SU, of course.
I'm curious how you and others think the Sunday play issue will be resolved?"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

You are wrong that's how the issue is resolved.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostI guess I'm with SU here. I'm curious how you and others think the Sunday play issue will be resolved?
Entire month of October they play 4 women's soccer games on Sunday, that's it for the entire conference of Sunday play.
November- 1 women's volleyball game and 8 non- conference women's basketball games, which BYU could easily schedule when they want.
December- 2 wbb.
January- league play for wbb is Wednesday-Saturday format. With an occasional Sunday game that can easily be worked around.
They don't play as much on Sunday as you would like to believe.*Banned*

BYU will never be invited to the Big 12. Never. Il Padrino, this is debate is not worthwhile. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I tend to agree with you, but I'd like to see those who believe it will happen chime in and tell us why we're wrong. Junkie is the only one to have backed up the idea that Sunday play is not an issue; I'll wait for others to make the case other than "[w]e don't think it's an issue."Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostBYU will never be invited to the Big 12.
