Last time Utah lost a game in which it was favored by more than a TD: 2007 UNLV, or 35 games ago. Almost three season's worth.

Number of games Utah has lost under KW in which it was favored by more than a TD or more: 2 (AFA, 2007; SDSU, 2005).

So in five years, Utah's lost a total of three games in which it was favored by more than a TD. None in nearly the last three years. I'd hardly call that a history of losing games it should win. Maybe ancient history, but hardly recent history.

Honest question: how "favored" is a team that is favored by 7 points? That seems like a pretty big line for a football game. How would your answer change if you adjusted it down to games where the Utes were favored by 4 or 5 I wonder?

"nearly three years" is ancient history? LOL! I guess when your "storied" football tradition starts in 2004 you'd have to have that sort of a worldview.

I said it was maybe ancient history. It's definitely not recent history. In fact, everyone here keeps telling me that 2008 is ancient history.

7 is huge spread for an NFL game, but I think it marks a good balancing point in the college game between favored and heavily favored.

In any instance, losing at home when you're favored by more than a FG should be viewed as an extremely rare event. Road losses when you're favored by 3-7 points often don't fall under the "should-win" category. And there's a lot more of the latter under KW than the former.

Dear BYU and fans:

It's not you, it's us. Please don't be angry or upset, we will probably end up being the doormat of our new conference. So much so, in fact, that we are refusing any monetary benefits until we can prove ourselves worthy on the field of action. In the end it was about trying to get out from the shadow of our big brother. We need to try and spread our wings and learn to fly on our own.
