  • So what becomes of the board?

My favorite aspect of this board is the sports talk. I know I am in the minority with this. But seriously, what happens to the banter here? I'll be honest I could care less to talk about the Utes in the Pac 10. This rivalry made me care deeply about things like scheduling, recruiting, rankings, etc. I only paid attention to the Utes as it impacted BYU. I doubt many of you Utes will care about what happens with the Cougars and the Mountain West now. I'm not sure what happens with the rivalry, but whatever does, it is now changed forever. This saddens me deeply. I don't blame Utah one bit for leaving. I'd expect BYU to do the same given the opportunity and be ecstatic about it. I blame the BCS and big money NCAA for ruining a part of the game I love the most.

My guess is we will have to split the stadium. Much like CG had split Cougar/Ute fora.

The board will be fine because the Utes are about to find out what it's like to lose every year to a rival in a lesser conference. Liquor will flow down Foothill like never before.

I wish that you and I weren't in the minority with this.

I think the interest will still be there and will probably be friendlier. We still compete for the same kids and are in the same state. The interest will not wane. Think Georgia/GT. Good teams in difference conferences.

I'm happy for the University of Utah and I'm not sad for BYU. The board was already insufferable in many regards and this will only make it worse. The gloating has already begun and the sports forum is beginning to sound more and more like cougarboard or Utefans.

I've been pondering this question over the past day or two. I haven't been on the board long enough to go through a football/basketball season. I'm looking forward to the upcoming seasons. No matter what happens I hope the rivalry remains intact. It's been a part of me for as long as I can remember.

Hopefully that is temporary. It gets like that around rivalry week too ...

I'm just as worried about what will happen to the Foyer if the Utes ignore the admonitions of the prophet.

Not on the level it is now.

I'm thinking more along the lines of Utah/Utah St.

I hope this is true, that Utah doesn't accept because of it, and it becomes public knowledge. Think of the carnage. ALUFs trying to reconcile it all, non-0members griping about the Mormon church's influence in the state, etc. Good times.

Seriously though, I think it will be fine. People will participate in the threads that interest them, regardless of conference affiliation. Also, if the rumors are true we have another year or so before this would even become an issue and we will definitely find a bunch of new non-sports drama to unite or destroy us.
