Step 1: Keep the league together (Big 12)
Step 2: Invite two teams so that championship game can occur (NCAA rules are 12 teams for a champ game).

Stay cool. Ice cool. (anyone who can tell me which very famous play that happens to have incidental music from where this quote originates is a true genius).
Yes, I agree. The Big 12-2 is going to need 12 teams for that title game. Without a title game they are leaving about $15M on the table. They have some shopping time now. The rumor is that Arkansas could be sniffing the Big 12. The A&M and Arkansas game is good money. I don't get the interest in the AFA. SMU or TCU could help with the DFW market. Houston in that market.

I find it very interesting that the Big 12 found little or no value in Colorado. It will be interesting to see how much they can add to the Pac-10+1. What I find funny is that NU and CU now need to pay $10M each. That could help the Big 12 in landing a much better fish than CU.

lol, no offense IPU but that's what I wonder with a lot of your takes. I can see IPU every spring. "Don't tell me it's going to be warm weather tomorrow, I'm not stupid, it's been cold outside the last 60 days in a row. I'LL BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT!!"

The case of NU and CU tell you everything you need to know about what teams a conference should look for when it comes to conference expansion. Nebraska has a crap TV market, CU is the only game in town for a big market. Big 12 was happy to see CU leave, but NU leaving almost killed the conference.

NU's TV market extends well beyond the confines of Nebraska, Northern Kansas, Western Iowa and the Dakotas

NU has value according to the Big 12. CU doesn't.

They were just talking about this on GAC.

                Edit: The quote:

"Each team was given a value of about 8.6% and Colorado was such a non-performer the last five years that in the negotiations they were given a 0% value."

I'm not from SoCal and therefore, don't think it's cold outside.

CU is an awkward football mkt...Denver doesn't really buy into the Boulder football crowd. More of a pro sports town, for sure.
