Can we guess that you're talking about those students who are not athletes?

You're aware that Utah already beats BYU in recruiting battles over out of state LDS in the past, right? 20 years ago, this never happened. It started happening a little with McBride and more and more lately. We also go head to head for local non-LDS and regional JUCO's.

BB will probably be even more of an impact. U's BB program was on life support. This immediately puts Utah BB back on the map.

Not sweating at all. But if it helps you to feel better about yourself, you can believe that.

Interesting. The U has been recruiting and landing quite a few recruits in Texas, not to mention California. And this was BEFORE it was in a major conference. What reason is there to think that potential recruits would be less likely to go to Utah once they are in a better conference?

Until I hear it officially announced, I don't think it will happen. Unlike SU, I am grounded in reality.

OK, well when BYU gets the invite in a few weeks to the Big 12, I'm guessing you'll feel differently.

As I've said (and I guess SU, as well), the UT/Pac10 foray was nothing but hot air.

BYU goes into the Big 12 with TCU (again, perhaps the hogs, but that's less likely)

LDS? As in whom have they recruited?

Hey! Just because I don't assume anything doesn't mean I'm afraid, least of all of someone like SU.

Of course that changes everything. And I'm not being a Debbie Downer like refusing to believe it could ever happen, but based on that latest news it doesn't seem likely.

Oops. I didn't realize we were talking LDS only. Either way, as others have suggested, many LDS kids outside of Utah don't even consider BYU unless their parents are alums. Its the same with Utah. In the last 30 years or so lots of BYU grads spread out across the country and now their kids are considering BYU b/c they've grown up with it. Give it another 30 and that influence will be severely diminished.

quote isn't working for me but, Ted, I don't think you are reading that quote correctly.

Does anyone REALLY believe that UT/OU are going to say no to a $15-20MM champsionship game when all they have to do is so much as blow a kiss towards the Wasatch Front?

BYU can come in with lower rev share, as well, and they'd do it.

The only question is whether it's the hogs, the frogs or the other cougs joining BYU

Yeah, I read it to say the payout will be better than the current payout, but not as good as with the Pac 16. But I can't imagine adding U and CU to the Pac is going to increase the payouts.

How can you all not be celebrating, dancing in your Utah cul-de-sacs??!! Singing hymns of praise?

The Big 12 is now two short of a full 12 and needs two teams. BS they want a 10-team conference!! This should be celebration night...the Cougars are going to the Big 12!
