Personally, I don't think we need or want Boise. I'm sure Boise is a one coach phenomenon, and its academics are worse than of 0 account.
You may be surprised to learn that Boise has been pretty damn successful for 3 head coaches now.

It's absolutely a basketball conference. It's also a conference with a lot of BCS ties and a lot of potential angry senators.

IMO, it's our best shot if the Big 12 falls apart.

Haven't you heard? It was always all Chris Peterson.

Just heard something interesting. IF the big 12 doesn't exist anymore, then isn't the MWC in the top six and a BCS auto qualifying conference as it stands today? Why would they add BSU if that is the case.

We need RC or Lost_Student or anyone else in Idaho/Boise to give us the fall out up there. Any rumblings that this is a stall tactic by the MWC?
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I suspect the BSC lets in who the BSC lets in. There is probably no provision dictating that there needs to be six conferences included. If one conference drops out, then the remaining five just divide up the spoils.

What's wierd is how this has become less and less about BSC money and more and more about TV contracts, where it appears the real money is. Mormons need to have even more children.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I've been out of the loop today but if I was the MWC I would have done the same thing. Why not wait and see what the big boys are going to do before doing anything. Myself I hope their is room for them in a MWC/ leftover Big 12 conference.

Was Chris Peterson there before Hawkins? Boise was good then too.

The big BSU fans in my office didn't seem too surprised. I was a little disappointed because I was hoping for regular local BYU games. Not much to report.

                        • since this is the closest we have to a mwc expansion thread here goes.

If hair thompson was really smart he would try the same thing with Texas that Karl Benson tried with byu. Put all their non football sports in the mwc and get 2 home and 2 away football games with Texas in Nov and Oct for your conference every year. To further spice it up you could throw in that one of the texas road fball games and all home bball games would be broadcast on the longhorn network.

Wouldn't that be a serious win for the mwc?

                          • Why wouldn't the Big East find a way to make Texas Bball + other sports work. Texas is maybe the only school in the country where their other sports besides football and basketball generate a decent amount of revenue and publicity/prestige.

that is why I am saying mwc should try and swoop in first.

I'd put Ohio State above every school in the country in terms of generating profit from sports programs.
