The defense should be interesting to watch this season. Pitt will be baptism by fire for Sitake's crew.
I'm not that worried about the backers. JJ, Martinez, King & Manis all have a decent number of game snaps and have been in the system for multiple years, so they have the mental game down.

Free safety will be interesting... but then again, Tap is a good enough athlete that he could take FS and SS becomes the open position.

Also, with as much nickel as we play, Conroy Black will get 60% of the snaps at CB opposite Burton, with Chapman moving inside to the slot.

Um, King and Manis hardly played last year.

Coupled with his action in 2007, King has some good experience. Not a wealth of it, but he's been in the program three years. No reason to expect him not to be a decent contributor. There's a significant difference between King's and Manis' experience levels.

I agree with you on experience level with King and Manis. Manis has one year playing LB doesn't he?

Yep. Manis was a QB in 2008, and actually got some snaps n stats vs. Weber State. That year, King redshirted due to a knee injury.
