Cowheard was saying this morning that the Big 12 doesn't share revenue like the Little 11 does. He said that is the main reason that Nebraska and Mizzou would jump at the chance to join the Little 11. He was also talking about how Notre Dames T.V. contract isn't as good as everything thinks and that they would make more by joining the Little 11 as well. Lot's of chatter about this."Take it to the Bank"

I didn't know that about the Big 12. Interesting. Maybe BYU and Utah to the Big 12 together isn't a wishful thought then.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostCowheard was saying this morning that the Big 12 doesn't share revenue like the Little 11 does. According to the NY Times (All the news that's fit to make up) Notre Dame gets 15 million a year from NBC and they get at least 1 million if they dont got to a bcs game and 4.5 million if they do. That is at most for football 19.5 million now count what they get from the big east from every other sport. Lets say at most 2 million and in a bcs year they will get 21.5 million in tv revenue.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostCowheard was saying this morning that the Big 12 doesn't share revenue like the Little 11 does. From the big10 network alone the schools get 22 million a piece. Now figure the abc/espn deals and its not much to say that Notre Dame would make more being in the big11 then alone."Be a philosopher. The thing is, Notre Dame has this perception about themselves that they are still the team that dominated in the 70's to early 90's. It is looking more and more like Notre Dame going to the Little 11 would benefit them financially but the questions is, can they swallow their pride and realize they aren't the team the once were and make the switch?Originally posted by Mormon Red Death View PostAccording to the NY Times (All the news that's fit to make up) Notre Dame gets 15 million a year from NBC and they get at least 1 million if they dont got to a bcs game and 4.5 million if they do. I vote no. Hubris is a much more powerful than practical sense. I hope they decline. It will continue their march to irrelevance.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostThe thing is, Notre Dame has this perception about themselves that they are still the team that dominated in the 70's to early 90's. they already play 4-5 big 10 games every year anyways. Add 4 more is not going to be that hard.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostThe thing is, Notre Dame has this perception about themselves that they are still the team that dominated in the 70's to early 90's. USC and Navy are the only "real" important games. Stanford, Pitt & BC can be a once every 2-3 years thing.Originally posted by Surfah View PostBut at the expense of who? USC? Navy? Pitt? Stanford? BC? I think those are important to Notre Dame."Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. I think there was a gentleman's agreement/promise from Notre Dame to Navy that they would keep them on their schedule every year because of a game that Navy agreed to play them back in day that saved Notre Dame's butts for some reason. When I say back in the day I mean the 40's or 50's. Can't remember the details very well.Originally posted by Mormon Red Death View PostUSC and Navy are the only "real" important games. It is a must that they keep SC and Navy on there schedule. I love traditions in college football and would be very disappointed if these weren't kept."Take it to the Bank"

I see no benefit for ND to join the Big 10. Financially they do not need the money they have their own tv contract with NBC. They are the largest brand in college football. Of course the big 10 wants them and wants a piece of the pie. I think if ND goes they are playing by completely different set of rules than the rest of the league.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostThe thing is, Notre Dame has this perception about themselves that they are still the team that dominated in the 70's to early 90's. This news is abuzz in my office as well, which is in the heart of BIG XII country. Local radio is speculating that if Mizzou and Nebraska take the offer that the BIG XII should go after Louisville and Air Force to fill out the North division. Their reasons were that Louisville puts the BIG XII in SEC country (????? Kentucky is not really SEC country) and Air Force has a big national following (sure, whatever but they suck in a lot of things other than football).
Personally I want BYU in the BIG XII as they would play more games close to my home and I'm a selfish person."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

So they don't need the money, but don't you think they want the money? Or are you saying that it would not actually be more money, as argued by MRD above?Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostI see no benefit for ND to join the Big 10.
