I asked my dad about this kid last night and he said everyone was shocked when word got around that BYU had offered. Apparently a lot of people feel he's not very coordinated or athletic. Though to be that big that young it's probably going to take some time to grow in his body. Apparently he's listed as a *** right now and on ESPN's top 150 watch. Must be doing something right.

We've seemed to sign a number of crazy tall (like in the 6'6"-6'8" range) OL recruits lately. Will our 5'8" (that's how tall he looked when I stood next to him) quarterback be able to throw over them?

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that these OL guys are about as close to 6'8" as our QB is to 5'8".

I guess I'm missing the sad part. A teacher making 50k with 100% paid health benefits, sick days, at least 2 months off in additions to holidays and personal days, and a retirement package is more like a self employed guy making at least $85k per year.

I think teachers have a pretty good deal, all things considered, but if you really think they are only engaged for 6 hours a day when they are teaching you are mistaken.

for good teachers, you are right. but for a lot of teachers, they're not even engaged for the six hours they're at school. it's unfortunate that teaching attracts these types of people.

Because I am married to one, and my wife busts her ass for special needs kids. Has for 11 years now. She has been required by the State of California to get 4 different teaching credentials since she started teaching. 4!

Not to mention that she is basically required to teach Summer School because of her specialty.

2 years ago she had a student attempt to stab her. Did you experience something like that at your part time job?

5 years ago she had a co-worker that had a 7th grade Special Needs boy pick her up and body slam her on the ground. She broke her back and is paralyzed from the waist down. For the rest of her life might I add. Pretty sucky for a part time job if you ask me.

I know I know...not all teachers. But quit painting with a broad brush. If that shit is so easy to do, go get your teaching credential and belly up to the bar of overpaid part time work.

Well said Tick and thank you for calling statman out on this. I have a ton of respect for teachers. Both of my parents are teachers and both of them have worked extremely hard and made many sacrifices during their career.
