JIC, that made me laugh.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I read someone else who claims to have talked to Kona's dad say that the father said he was told in effect, "if the kid can't keep his comittment to not travel to ND, he won't be able to follow the rules at BYU.
I think the father has every right to react the way he has if that was indeed told him.
I would have some fear in sending my son to BYU. Does that make me automatically a rotten person. Think about it. If I posted that on CB, you know some would automatically think, he isn't a very good member of the church if he has reservations about sending his kid to BYU.
I know the far right of the fan base feels that way and that is OK. I just am uncomfortable when the far right thinking creeps out from those running the athletic program.
To think, Roger Reid was villified for making such a comment. Perhaps winning is everything.

But Reid did win and he was the coach the last time BYU won a game in the Big Dance.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI read someone else who claims to have talked to Kona's dad say that the father said he was told in effect, "if the kid can't keep his comittment to not travel to ND, he won't be able to follow the rules at BYU.

22-10, 22-10, 15-13, 1-25 (he and Ingle). Don't know if there was a WAC Championship in there and the Utes were doing well.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostBut Reid did win and he was the coach the last time BYU won a game in the Big Dance.
Don't kid yourself. If Bronco goes 9-3 or even 10-2 over the next 4 years with no championships and at the same time the Utes make it to another BCS game, people won't be as excited when he tells a big time LDS recruit to take a hike.

Reid was never wildly popular with the fanbase (and especially the administration) for a variety of reasons, despite his success. That's why he had such a short rope when the team stopped winning.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostBut Reid did win and he was the coach the last time BYU won a game in the Big Dance.

We had a discussion about this before. My brother started at BYU in 1986 and when he visited during my Freshman year, 95-96, he said the quality of the coeds had substantially diminished. Thank goodness for UVSC. I'm not going to push any son of mine to attend BYU for this exact reason. If he wants to go to BYU, he will be warned. Attending college in Provo, UT is brutal if the girls are unattractive.Originally posted by Shaka View PostThey moved over to UVSC a year or two earlier when BYU ratcheted up its academic requirements.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

My daughter, who attends UVU but lives in BYU approved housing, says the situation with the guys at BYU isn't much better. According to her they're all a bunch of "fems".Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostWe had a discussion about this before. lol, it wouldn't surprise me. We've also discussed this before, but something like 4 out of every 5 incoming freshman from last year were involved with the performing arts in some manner. Things have changed for the worst in this regard in the past 15 years.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostMy daughter, who attends UVU but lives in BYU approved housing, says the situation with the guys at BYU isn't much better. But are they violent? As I walk through campus these days and pass judgment from afar, I'd have to concur with your daughter's assessment.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostMy daughter, who attends UVU but lives in BYU approved housing, says the situation with the guys at BYU isn't much better. HB I just noticed your avatar. For the better part of 25 year Willie has been closely associated with an overfull bladder. Sometime in HS me and some buddies always felt the need to announce, "I gotta pee like Willie McGee". I'm guessing they have all matured past the point of making such a dumb and dated reference. Me, on the other hand, not so much.Originally posted by HBCoug View PostBut are they violent?
