Did anyone watch Haden coming down to the sidelines to talk to the refs and think of our former AD, Val Hale, after the Georgia Tech game? I thought Hale's behavior was both more entertaining and embarrassing, but Haden had the good sense to do it while the game was still going on.

The ACC refs made a few questionable calls, and non-calls, mostly on BYU pass plays. I think Val's son Chris, (Home Run of the Washington game fame), was involved in one or more of them. Anyway, after the game, Val confronted the refs and as they were entering the ref's locker room entrance at the north end of the east stands, fans were hanging over the edges of the north and east stands were screaming expletives and throwing crap in support of Hale (I was witness to this). It was actually rather embarrassing, especially when one considers that BYU had just won the game, 24-13, thanks to a couple of fine Daniel Coats' TD grabs.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI don't remember that. What did Val Hale do?
I don't think SC fans were as supportive of their AD's actions as we were of ours, but then it was an away game for the Trojans so they had to behave. Haden has since apologized--I don't remember if Hale ever did.

IIRC, one of the refs was supposedly investigating the Church at the time and immediately lost all interest b/c of the enthusiasm of some of the BYU fans. ALUFs probably had a field day with that.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostThe ACC refs made a few questionable calls, and non-calls, mostly on BYU pass plays. DDD, are you making the trek to SLC for the USC game this weekend? I've only watched USC play one game this year (Hawaii) but they looked stacked to me. I'm not sure Utah has enough offenseto ever score againbeat USC, unless they get a couple of special teams or defensive touchdowns.

I will be in attendance, of course. Utah has a PAC 12 first-team caliber disrupter on O (booker) and on D (orchard) so both sides of the ball are going to be a battle. Given the question marks at QB for Utah, i see them following the BC game plan and giving booker 30+ carries again until someone can stop or slow him. Leonard Williams, Anthony Sarao, Claude Pelon, Greg Townshend.....I like SC's chances on D.
I would also look for Kessler to throw a lot and throw it deep. Agholor, Smith, Rogers, Dixon, jackson....lots of weapons. And buck Allen/Justin Davis is a nice RB tandem.
Utah special teams are some of the best in the country so Kessler better be ready to put together long drives.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Utah will need a strong first quarter to win. We aren't coming back on anyone this year - just too little offensive punch to do so. Ball control, field position, and constant QB substitutions: that is our mantra.
