    It's a recruiting dead period.

    No big deal.
Is that true for all unsigned recruits? What about kids that have committed to you already? What if he was just returning messages? Does that apply to JUCO recruits as well?

You should turn him in the the NCAA. It may be the only way you beat him.

Yep. He's on local sports radio pretty frequently, and he's shown a surprising sense of humor. The last pulse I had of him was sparring with Al Davis in the media, so it wasn't what I was expecting.

        • Interesting. Kiff hires Tee Martin to coach the WRs. Martin was coaching WRs at Kentucky. A guy that won a national title as a QB is now making a career coaching WRs.

On my way out of Nashville this morning I was listening to their sports radio. They were talking about how Martin went to Kentucky and now with Kiffin that he has basically given all Tennessee fans the middle finger. That made me chuckle.

Tennessee sucks. What exactly have the UT fans given him since he left?

Lane Kiffin: 'I have tremendous respect for what Urban Meyer does': #collegefootball wp.me/p14QTT-s4i

Based on where the “relationship” between Lane Kiffin and Urban Meyer was when the two were coaching in the same conference in 2009, the quote in the headline is a borderline miracle, a veritable “dog marries cat” bromance on the verge of a full-blown bloom.

In his lone year at Tennessee in 2009 before bolting for his current job at USC, Kiffin was famous — or infamous, depending on your point of view — for nipping at the heels of the SEC coaching hierarchy, especially Florida’s Meyer. The public sniping between the two reached a boiling point when Kiffin accused Meyer of cheating in the recruitment of a player who still signed with the Vols and continued to the point where conference commissioner Mike Slive had to step in.

That was more than two years ago and, my, how the times have changed....

                • Getting lots of SC stuff today. I'm on their mailing list because I purchased (once) football tickets by mail -- gotta admire the marketing tie-in. Here's the latest missive from Mr. Haden:

Haden on the plan for public access to the John McKay Center...
                  *
We are hoping the John McKay Center will open its doors in late July or early August.*Our team will move in approximately August 1. *I am anticipating a special opening ceremony around the time of our first football game.*We will be giving tours certainly on home game days as well as other special events.*We have some surprises in store for our fans when they get inside the building for the first time.
                  *
Haden on his wish list post-McKay Center...
                  *
We have two projects right on the heels of this one.*First, we plan to remodel Heritage Hall as soon as possible.*Secondly, we will refresh the aquatics center, which has not been improved since 1984.*We have a substantial lead gift for which we are thankful.*That will get us started, but we always need and appreciate more support from the Trojan Family as we look to improve the facilities for all 21 sports.
                  *
Haden on his support for Kevin O'Neill's ability to turn the men's basketball program around...
                  *
Kevin works as hard as anybody does.*We are happy with his success graduating student-athletes and providing discipline throughout his program.*Obviously, nobody is happy with our record this season, but we recognize that he has been dealt a difficult hand with only six healthy scholarship players at present.*It must get better and I have every expectation that it will next year.
                  *
Haden on his expectations for the 2012 baseball season...
                  *
We are going to be improved.*It is all about pitching, so we are thankful to have Andrew Triggs return to lead the rotation, while getting his MBA at the Marshall School.*Behind him, we have some new live arms that Frank Cruz is really hoping will step up.*Baseball season is long, but it should be more enjoyable than a year ago.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Nah.. It won't be a full blown miracle until DDD follows his coaches example and professes his love and respect for Urban as well..

                        • Dillon Baxter is a moran. Thank goodness SC cut him.

                          http://www.latimes.com/sports/sports...tory?track=rss

Former USC running back Dillon Baxter has been dismissed from the program at San Diego State, according to this report by Brent Schrotenboer of the San Diego Union-Tribune...

..."Long said players in his program have to meet certain expectations and that it's better to "split ways" with Baxter.
"Long declined to talk about the reasons behind the dismissal.

"According to a source, Baxter had issues with class attendance and falling asleep in study hall. He also has a baby, which added stress to his academic workload."
