settlements or offers to settle generally are not used as evidence of guilt, otherwise the result would be a chilling effect on settlements.

The NCAA isn't bound by the FRE, so who knows. This is actually a good thing for SC because now neither Bush nor Lake will give depos and the NCAA won't have access to the transcripts.

SC's does not have to prove that Reggie's parents weren't living in a house rent-free. SC simply has to show that it had no real way of knowing or controlling what his family was doing down in San Diego. The issue is institutional control.

Without any official statement from Reggie or a depo from Lake, the NCAA now has no direct admissions of knowledge from anyone tied to SC. There are pictures of Lake hanging out at practice and with the team, which is obviously problematic. The NCAA's hands are tied on this one, I think. They don't seem to have a great case.

DDD, you'll be happy to know that even in Foggia, Italy there is a 12 year old LDS girl who is a budding SC fan.

What's the local scoop on the Bingham kid..Harvey Langi? I know he has offers from BYU and Utah.

He is going to be at SC this Sunday for the Nike Camp and there is some excitement about his possibly being the next Stanley Havili at fullback for the Trojans. I don't know much about him.

How serious is he about the U or the Y? Or is he at all?

I have a couple of friends with kids that play for Bingham. Both have told me he is waiting for BCS offers. If he gets a good BCS offer he won't be playing for Utah or BYU. From my understanding he hasn't received any yet.

Depending on how he does on Sunday, I know he will be on SC's radar. Does he want to play fullback or tailback? SC would be looking at him mainly as a FB. They have zeroed in on De'Anthony Thomas (The Black Mamba), RB from Crenshaw as the prized recruit for next season. It will be cool to see how those 2 play together over the weekend.

I think Havili has shown recruits that you can be a FB at SC and still shine....you touch the ball quite a bit and are given key opps to score. And Havili has played his entire career, he didn't have to wait.

So how does that change if Utah is a BCS school?

My understanding is that he is set on playing tailback but I may be wrong.

I don't think it will matter. Some of the mods on Utezone think if he stays instate, he is BYU's to have. IOW, Utah has about a 0.5% chance that may raise to a 2% chance if we were admit to the P-10.

Langi is legit he went to Floridas Nike Camp and won the MVP. He is going to be special. However I think he might have stars in his eyes.

Looks like he is hitting all the big camps. He arrives in LA today from what I hear and will be on campus at SC (unofficial). What does an unofficial visit entail? If it official, they pay your expenses, but on an unofficial visit, can you do pretty much everything else (check out the facilities, meet coaches and players, work out, etc) except for all the freebie swag (meals, airfare, lodging, gear, etc).?

Florida has had great success with recruiting out West recently so I am hoping that this trend will die now that Fla has to restock a bit for another title run.

I talked to a guy who is a "part" time coach at Bingham. He said that Langi has an offer to Stanford and Chow and UCLA are coming on. I think they have now offered. He doesn't think he will get test scores to go to Stanford. He thinks Langi to BYU is almost a sure thing.

fucla did offer, allegedly. It must be NoCho because Hermie doesn't usually get involved this early on with offers.
