TT was a game away from playing in the Big 12 title game and the national championship last year. That's why the likes of Washington were trying to hire him away. Leach won't be a hot commodity at the top tier programs, but will be looked at by programs a step below- like ASU.
I think Leach ends up at Colorado.

We should invite the Texas Tech administration to the next Runnin Utes game so that will know what their future looks like.

A game away? Yeah, a game which they lost by like 70 points.

Actually, I knew that. I have family that went to the Salt RIver and Pine Creek and had some good catch and release times last summer.

Colorado is a similar school to Washington in terms of tradition and even culture. Both have had periods of great success but they're overshadowed by bigger programs in their respective conferences.

Colorado HAS to hire a coach who is guaranteed to win some games for them or the success of the 80s, early 90s and the early part of this decade will be largely forgotten. Mike Leach has proven to be very effective against the Big 12 North teams. If the situation with James proves to be untrue or largely embellished, then it would be a no-brainer for Colorado. Even during a rebuilding year, TT still won eight games in the significantly more difficult Big 12 South.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Starbucks and then Mayflower to get a moving van. I loved this line from Ivan Maisel

The university that overlooked Bob Knight's methods of handling players in order to have him revive its basketball program suddenly has become the Amnesty International of the NCAA.

They also beat the #1 team in the country. Every coach gets his ass kicked once in awhile. Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Pete Carroll, Bob Stoops and Kyle Whittingham.

                    another one from Maisel,

As of Wednesday, no other Texas Tech football player has stepped forward with a tale of mistreatment at the hands of Leach, which brings us to the third actor in this melodrama. It's hard to imagine the Texas Tech locker room will be a welcome place for James. His teammates came to Lubbock to play for a successful coach who is no longer there. Whether James stays in Lubbock or transfers, he is going to be known as the guy who got Leach fired. That isn't likely to turn out well, either.

Dang. Are there any Brown in the North Platte at Saratoga? And speaking of Saratoga, while I don't partake, I understand there is a microbrew festival of some sort there during the summer.

I was responding to your specific comment that he was one game away from the BCS title game last year. Yes, so close and yet so far away. Now, if he had accomplished something like each of the ones you list have I'd understand the adulation.

You'd be better off going a little farther north and fishing the Miracle Mile, bigger fish. Although Saratoga is a pretty cool little town. Prime rib at the Wolf Hotel and soaking in the hot springs. Last time I was there we had a bear wandering down the middle of the street.

The Beavers have been 1 win away from the Rose Bowl for 2 straight years, I just thought that should be mentioned in this thread.

TT is dumb. I doubt they are able to get anyone to come there and have anything close to the success Leach had. The Big 12 just became weaker as a whole.
