Cougjunkie the last couple years the trend has actually been rookie QBs coming in and playing well from the get go. Joe Flacco on the Ravens, Matt Ryan on the Falcons being the most high profile.

That's not a trend. That is two rookie quarterbacks looking good out of how many?

So yeah, if you have the best defense in the league, go ahead and take Tebow.
I don't think that's anything revelatory. The recipe for winning the Super Bowl has always been either have a top-rated defense and a QB who doesn't shoot you in the foot, or a HOF qb and an average defense. Some teams have both a HOF QB and a top-rated D, but I can't think of a Super Bowl winner who didn't have one or the other. More often than not, the team who wins the Super Bowl has an awesome D.

The best I came up with was St. Louis in 2000, but i'm not so sure Warner doesn't end up in the HOF.

I forgot about Matt Ryan he was good last year, struggled this year. Flacco was not stellar by any means last year. Had just about as many TDs as Ints and a QB rating of 80. For a rookie it is respectable.
