Also, 2001 BYU beat 2001 Utah by a measly field goal. Saying 2001 BYU is the best MWC team ever is saying that 2004 Utah was no better than 2001 Utah. We're seeing some poor understanding of college football here by a couple of people. Just to put things in perspective, 2001 BYU is what Seattle Ute would vote for in this poll if he were a BYU fan. Think about that.
TCU 09 best team in MWC history?

Ty Detmer played 14 seasons in the NFL actually on an NFL roster.Originally posted by U-Ute View PostHe spent two years on Tampa Bay and is on the Saints this year.
"Nice try?" WTF exactly am I trying? He has spent more time in the NFL than you or I. Seems like that's the qualification for being an NFL player. Or don't you consider Ty Detmer an NFL player either?

Paris Warren is no longer on the Saints roster as you can see here: http://neworleanssaints.com/Team/Roster.aspx and he was released back in August: http://fantasy.ballhype.com/article/...warren_wr_new/
He has not been resigned by anyone since then and he has a grand total of 5 receptions for 63 yards in his "5" year "career". Like I said if you want to count him as an NFL player go ahead but I would be embarrassed to do so.*Banned*

Good call because 2003 Utah beat 2003 BYU by a measly FG, you know the 2003 BYU team that had its 7th string quarterback in the game and finished 4-8. That Utah team must have sucked ass, and to think that was your 3rd best team in your entire history and you barely beat the worst BYU team since 1976 by a field goal. Haha!Originally posted by DU Ute View PostAlso, 2001 BYU beat 2001 Utah by a measly field goal. Saying 2001 BYU is the best MWC team ever is saying that 2004 Utah was no better than 2001 Utah. very good point about the spread option. That was brand new to the conference and really really new to college football itself and it was very difficult for teams to stop. Now, almost everyone runs some sort of variation based off the spread.Originally posted by U-Ute View PostTrue.
Another factor was the newness of the spread option offense. How effective would that team be now that teams have seen it for 5 years? I don't know. It still seems mighty effective if you have the speed (see: TCU '09).

That should not matter it was still the 3rd or 4th best Utah team ever (depending on how you view 1994) so with your logic the 3rd/4th best Utah team ever is barely better than a 4-8 BYU team that was the worst team at BYU since 1976.Originally posted by DU Ute View PostNo one here is claiming 2003 Utah was the greatest MWC team ever.*Banned*

Did you vote for 2001 BYU? So, where is the line? 1 year? Two years? 5 years?Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostTy Detmer played 14 seasons in the NFL actually on an NFL roster.
What qualifies someone as an "NFL player"? I ask you since you seem to be the final arbiter in this.
And my second question: Why do you even care?

I'll officially reserve judgment until after TCU's bowl game, but I'd probably go with this year's TCU for now with the '04 Utes second. TCU is fast, balanced, disciplined and deep. The game was all but over only a few minutes into the game and they didn't take their foot off of the pedal until late.
I can't wait to see them in their BCS game and sincerely hope that they are matched up with the loser of the SEC championship game (or I might settle for Cincinnati).
I hope they're not put against Pitt, Boise State, etc.

That's what I always thought, I think I even made a post on CB to that effect a while back. I was amazed when I was poking around on CB today that at least one poster still had it in his sig line. I thought it was stupid to have it up at this point, but if he was aware of that fact he probably wouldn't have put it up in the first place.Originally posted by Fiyero View PostWouldn't that drawing be more accurate if the giant was dead on the ground with a Ute holding his decapitated head triumphantly in the air, and along came the little BYU guy who stood over the corpse and threw pebbles at it?"In conclusion, let me give a shout-out to dirty sex. I think this is really a toss-up between Utah 2004 and TCU 2009. I would go with Utah 2004 because of coaching. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression
