    What's with fans predicting next

year we go 8-4 or 7-5 and that would be just great because we are rebuilding. Weren't the Utes rebuilding this year and they should end up 9-3.

Seems like some fans are gearing up for settling for recruiting and attendance smack. A CB poster said the fireside Friday was packed and an awesome event. Said game not so much, but who cares, the fireside was great.

In all reality TCU is going to be the best team in the conference again and Utah and BYU will probably lose one other game

Utah plays Pitt and San Jose st at home
and they play ND and Iowa st on the road

Byu has washington and nevada at home and utah st and fla st on the road.

Yeah, I would guess Utah splits Pitt/ND and loses to TCU. Maybe one other game, too.

Aren't the Pitt and ND games already set with dates in the second half of the season? If Utah additionally has both TCU and BYU in November as they have in recent years, that's a heckuva stretch.

Here are the schedule of the big 3 next year. My guess is TCU picks up a game like byu did with Oklahoma this year.

          Utah"s schedule
          9-11 Pittsburgh
          9-18 at Iowa State
          9-25 San Jose State
          11-13 at Notre Dame

          BYU
          Sat. 09/04/10 Washington
          Sat. 09/18/10 Florida Stat
          Sat. 09/25/10 Nevada
          Sat. 10/02/10 Utah State

          TCU's
          9-4 Baylor
          9-11 @ SMU
          9-18 @ Texas Tech

Are you predicting the Utes to lose to SDSU or their bowl game?

              Just curious.

Until other teams in the league prove otherwise, Utah and BYU should still be able to (as the utes have shown this year) roll out of bed and win most of their conference games.

I saw the fireside post on CB. I'll take five fans that will egg coaches' cars over one fan that believes the fireside is much more important than the on-the-field product.

Well, 9-3 would mean I am not predicting their bowl game and I would be shocked if they lose to SDSU. So that leaves only one other option. As a matter of fact, I am such a believer that I am willing to place a friendly wager with anyone on here straight up on the BYU-UTAH game. I will take BYU.

You already tried this lame tactic in another thread and it failed miserably. Why go to the well again?

You answered your own question there, 71. With a fireside-centric coach and fanbase, the inevitable consolation prize of underclassmen will be underachieving and not feeling too bad about it.

As a BYU football fan 1st, 2nd and last, I expect us to go 9-3 which given a more difficult conference schedule and new QB is great. I couldn't care less if Heaps sings offkey or shares too many stories while bearing his testimony, I want him to come in and win and there's no reason he or the returning missionary QBs shouldn't. When our fanbase stops pretending that Urban Meyer or Mac Brown don't think family is more important than football than maybe we can get back to what is really important as a program: WINNING, WINNING, & WINNING!

The comment I hear is that the football program is a vehicle to promote the values the "BYU mission statement" embodies. OK, I am fine with the part of the fan base that thinks that way.

However, where they are at right now is imparting the values to your own constituency.

Utah got to impart their values on a big stage last year and TCU will get to impart their values on a big stage this year.

IMHO!!!! I want to emphasize this is my opinion only, what BYU football and winning could impart to those not familiar with our values is that we aren't a bunch of right wing wacko's. Once in a while the message I get is that, we are a bunch of right wing wacko's.

Note: We got on the big stage having game day. They didn't come because they heard about the "BYU mission statement". They came because BYU and TCU were winning. TCU gets to keep talking to a wide audience about their values. BYU gets to keep talking to their own crowd.

Seriously, who (around here) cares about the firesides?

Harping on them is getting old. If CB is making a big deal of them, let CB make a big deal of them.

I can see a hard year for the cougs next year. They will have lots of young players at skilled positions. I'm fine with one down year, knowing there is great potential there for following years.

If that potential isn't realized in the years to follow, yes I won't be satisfied.
