I must have trouble dealing in abstract.

I am a big fan of earthquakes that stop baseball games, the Oakland athletics, the Anaheim angels, and now the Detroit Tigers.

Except for Sandoval who started in the all star game and had a triple?

He may had started in the all star game but I would still rank Wright, Headley, Zimmerman and Freese above the baby Panda.

Stan "The Man" Musial passed away this evening. The greatest Cardinal, and one of baseball's great.

Carp won't pitch in 2013, and he'll probably retire.

One of my favorite players to watch. He was a key part of two World Series titles.

Very sad. I just wish there were more seasons with Carpenter and Wainwright both 100%.

We'll miss Carp, and being one more year away from Duncan will likely affect us, but I feel pretty good about the rotation. Waino, Garcia, Westbrook, Lynn (who's getting rave reviews for showing up in great shape, and one of Joe Kelly/Shelby Miller/Trevor Rosenthal. I hope it's Miller, because Kelly and Rosenthal have shown the ability to be successful in middle relief.

Cards with 3 consecutive shutouts. Wainwright goes 3-3 with 2 RBI's at the plate, on top of an absolute gem on the mound.

We would be even better with Taveras in RF and an upgrade at SS.

Another strong outing by Wainwright last night. His consecutive scoreless innings streak got snapped, but he's still gone 28 innings without giving up a walk. The bullpen somehow managed to not blow it again.

I'm not a baseball fan. Just never got into watching (too busy with other things during the summer growing up, I guess.)

But a really good guy I know who was a victim to cancer was a huge Cardinals fan. So I'll always hope they do well, knowing that Dave is watching from the best seats in the house.

A good barometer this week against the Nats. Hopefully we can take 2 of 3.

                          A sweep is good, too.

                          Our rotation is awesome.

                            Great article here. Where's BoylenOver?

Perhaps the Giants, the Braves, the Dodgers or the Phillies could make an argument that they've been the National League's preeminent franchise for some arbitrary period of time that fits their own definition of excellence. In truth, the bar in this league has been set by the St. Louis Cardinals. Nights like this one ought to be all the proof anyone needs.

If you arbitrarily ignore the fact that the Dodgers racially integrated baseball and also brought baseball to the West Coast, then I could see St. Louis's point. Good job, cards!

Hard not to think the Cardinals, NL champs 2 of the last 3 years, are better this year than they've been since 2011.
