It's not a perfect comparison, but for anyone who understands football and doesn't really get soccer, I think it accurately illustrates the ridiculousness of the way VAR is being used.

I, for one, am looking forward to the Falkland/Malvinas Semifinal.

Yellow was absolutely appropriate...its was a clear dive. I think reversing yellow cards when there is a dive and assigning it to the diver is one of the best things VAR does. Having it result in a red card in a world cup quarterfinal because it is the second yellow is a harsh consequence but you know what?...maybe dont take a clear dive when you are already on a yellow in such an important match. I have zero problem with it because these kinds of sever consequences is what will drive diving out of the game.

You served in Argentina during the 98 cup if I remember correctly. Is that right? I was up north finishing up during that tournament. That round of 16 game against England was nuts...even knowing the Falklands history it was amazing to me the amount of animosity every single person had towards England. And it spilled over onto the white missionaries they happened to see on and around gameday.

                This semifinal will be unreal.

Sorry, no. I finished up in 1997. I was there for the 1996 Olympics, though, when Argentina lost in the gold medal game to Nigeria. Tough day to try to proselyte. During the game, nobody would talk to us - we ended up just finding somewhere to sit and read our scriptures. After the game, nobody would talk to us - too depressed.

thankfully I had a bunch of meetings and missed most of it. Spain is too good. I’m not sure even Argentina can beat them.

For the round of 16 game in 98 we were ordered to stay in the entire day. We had to venture out to buy some groceries and several groups of people gave me mild harassment, calling me English. The boredom was excruciating staying in all day. You could of course hear the entire city erupt with every Argentina goal. When two hours from kickoff passed and there was no celebration, my Argentine companion was despondent. Then we heard cheers in rapid succession and we knew they were taking penalties to decide the game. My companion was losing his mind.
