  • Super Bowl LI

There's been a definite buzz around town all week. Downtown Houston, which is usually pretty dull, has a huge tent city setup with a bunch of concerts and other activities. The weather has been absolutely perfect with lows in the 60s and highs in the 70s. This event is definitely much bigger than the Final Four last year. In fact, it's interesting that the actual game appears to be more of a sideshow to the parties and other events taking place. I was asked to not come into the office today since my building is right next door to the festivities and traffic is supposed to be a mess all weekend (starting early Friday) and the music/concerts have been blaring in the afternoon but it all starts much earlier today.

As for the game, I hate the Patriots so I hope they lose and wouldn't mind if Belichek has a heart attack and dies right after they lose (I want him to taste the defeat before dying). I don't really care for Atlanta either, but I guess I'll be cheering for them. I guess it would be nice to see Van Noy sack Matt Ryan a couple times.

Current line is NE -3. I guess that sounds right. I just hope it's a good game, which the Super Bowl has been more often than not over the last decade.

Your wish came true! Belicheck has lost 2 Super Bowls, once crushing a quest for an undefeated season.

Did he die twice? That's pretty miraculous.

I am going to cheer for KVN. But that's as far as I will go.

I'm going to enjoy watching the best QB and best HC of my generation, but I won't be cheering for either team.

I'll take both of these. Go Pats!

I was going to watch the game alone. Not a super bowl party guy. Don't want to drive to Utah county to watch with kids. Son up here is going to friends with his daughter who will have friends there. She is 14. Son just called and said she wants to come and watch the game with me so I won't be alone. She just moved way up the inheritance list

If any of you are struggling to appreciate the moment today, I urge you to forget about the easy stuff to hate about Tom Brady. Forget the supermodel wife, the regrettable late '90's hair, the awkward farm animal pictures, spygate/deflategate, the almost contrived tears, etc., etc. Instead, remember what makes Brady truly great. This kid, overlooked 198 times until he was picked:

Brady, giving hope to all tall skinny kids everywhere.
Don't waste precious fandom time hating on Brady anymore. It's doubtful we'll have him at his peak powers much longer. Appreciate him now as the GOAT.

Thanks. Love all the grandkids, but whenever I asked them to something like get out of the pool. She always said, sure grandpa. Maybe this belonged in a thread about kids
