The Steph Curry era only began because the Bucks took Monta. Both were offered up in that Bogut trade and Milwaukee chose the scorer over the kid with a messed up ankle.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostWest played a significant role in the Warriors' trade of Monta Ellis for Bogut, which resulted in the owner getting booed lustily by the crowd during a ceremony for Chris Mullin. Ellis had actually been West's (not to mention the fan base's) favorite player, but he said making the change would create a much better future line-up for GS. Not only did the Warriors get a good center, the trade allowed them to move Ellis's back-up to a starting role. Thus the Steph Curry Era began. West has a lot better vision and more guts than most front office guys."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

I'm glad that I will never have to watch another NBA game with Kobe Bryant. Almost as equally glad that this Jazz season is over. What a frustrating year all the way around. I don't know how they'll do it, but the Jazz need a legit scorer and a legit team leader. Seems like the lack of both doomed this team. Snyder and Lindsey have a tough job turning the corner with this roster.A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life. - Mohammad Ali

Interesting if that's the case. Players like Ellis were already out of favor in the league, most people had figured out you can't win with Steve Francis type players. The dominance of the taking more 3 point shot attempts became evident with the LeBron championship teams and especially the latest Spurs championship team. The trade occurred while that was happening.Originally posted by Surfah View PostThe Steph Curry era only began because the Bucks took Monta. Ellis was mediocre from 3 point range while Curry was hitting it at over 45%. The Bucks chose poorly.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Jim Barnett, the Warriors' TV color guy, told an interesting story last night about GS breaking the Bulls' season wins' record set in '96. In the final month of that season, Chicago hosted the Hornets and lost the game after the buzzer had sounded with the Bulls leading by a point. But the Bulls had fouled a Hornet's shooter as time expired. The shooter went to the line and sank both shots, giving the Hornets the win. The shooter was Dell Curry. So one reason GS stands alone with the most wins in a season is because Steph's dad sank a couple of free throws. Of course, his having sired Steph nine years before that is another reason.
