Lakers win. This team is not elite but I think they will be fun and sneak into the playoffs. The bench was awesome tonight. Henri Farmar Johnson all had good games the starters didn't even play the 4th quarter. Chris Paul and the rest of the Clips were visibly frustrated.

I don't know how many games this team will win. But I think the hustle and effort we saw tonight is going to be there most of the year. That wasn't a fluke. This whole team is in a contract year. They're playing for their future. So I expect them to bring it. I think they'll be fun to watch.

Xavier Henry, at least early on, has been an excellent addition, not to mention getting Farmar back at the point.

Easier to hustle when you don't have a player who shoots every time he touches the ball, apparently.

I was flipping channels the other night, and I caught part of an old "Gilligan's Island" episode. It's the one where they find a jet pack and try to use it in one of their rescue attempts:

In the show, the plan is for Gilligan to take the jet pack, fly into the sky, and get seen by ships that are searching for the jet pack. The professor hangs a radio around Gilligan's neck to allow Gilligan to hear the search updates on a radio broadcast. Gilligan listens to the broadcast up in the air, but he gets scared, hides in a cloud, and causes a storm that sends the ships back to shore and leaves the gang stranded (sorry, no spoiler tags!).

The radio announcer, who had a vaguely familiar voice, identified himself during the news broadcast that Gilligan heard while flying with the jet pack. The announcer's name: Chick Hearn.

Hack a Howard gets the Lakers the win. LOL.

I believe Steve Nash is the only Laker on the payroll next year. But now there are some serious rumblings he may medically retire. If he does, which wouldn't upset me at all, the Lakers will not have his $9.7 million next year count against the cap. The Lakers are going to have a lot of money to play with next year. It's also worth noting that the Lakers have a first round pick this year, but none the following season.

Unfortunately they still have the same coach.

Also, Hard to recruit free agents when the FA literally has no current teammates.

If Kobe asks for anything more than a few million a year time to let him go, especially since he is getting paid this season to do nothing so far.

I don't disagree with anything you said. The Lakers will have to bring in two max players and Kobe and Pau on the cheap to pull off what the Heat have done. Mitch has his work cut out for him. I think there are some pieces that could be kept from this team to round it out like Hill, Blake, Henry, and Meeks. I guess Nick Young, Sacre and Harris are on the roster next year but they're cheap.

I wonder if Pau and Kobe don't work out some sort of deal. I'd love to have both back but only at the right price that allows the Lakers to be land the next stars and fill out the roster. I didn't realize how close those two guys are. Kobe wrote the foreword to Pau's new book coming out and titled it "If I Could Choose My Brother". And Pau dedicated an entire chapter to Kobe and their friendship. Jax also wrote a foreword piece. Man I'd love to have him back.
