I am not digging the total silence about LO. Although it is nice to not hear his agent leaking crap to the media.
LO will sign with the Lakers.

Ron Artest has created a very touching tribute to Michael Jackson.

Artest deal made official now that players can sign.

                Shannon Brown also official

                http://www.nba.com/lakers/news/090708shannonbrown.html

From Lakers website: nice 8 min video of the actual Artest signing, including interviews with Mitch, Ron, and an awkward extended conversation with Shannon Brown while he is picking his nose. There is a good article that accompanies the video.

                http://www.nba.com/lakers/news/09070...ronartest.html

Lamar Odom still AWOL and rumors of the 3 year, 25M offer still out there. More talk about Portland making a run at Odom for 10M per season. I don't get these players.....they leave a team that is clearly one of the contenders for the Championship for the sake of making an extra $1M or so a year, even when the team is clearly in the tax and paying dollar for dollar on each contract that is over the tax threshold? It isn't like the Lakers are being cheap with the roster or that the offer is a $5M lowball.

And in other exciting news, my LBJ "Winless" pic has now made the rounds. It has popped up on the SC message boards and now made its way to Lakers Nation.

So it wasn't the baby hook over McHale and Parish to seal the deal in 87?

Birth of children should probably rank somewhere up there, too. But then again, neither you nor I have ever seen Jacko eat at Kentucky Fried Chicken. Maybe it is all that. And more.

I wonder if Jacko orders dark meat or light meat?

It don't matter if it's dark or light.

But it has been confirmed he prefers baby chick meat to fully developed chickens, has it not?

OK, let's get down to Tru Warrior, bacon-wrapped hot dog, 9*4, #37 business.

Today was Ron Artest's intro press conference as a Laker. I can say this much.....he is going to be the definite go-to guy for the comedic quotes. Not quite as good as Shaq, but definitely can hold his own.

To start off, Mitch announced that Ron would be wearing #37 in honor of Michael Jackson....Thriller was #1 for 37 weeks. I am glad Mitch clarified that Ron was not choosing #37 in honor of BYU's spot in the pre-season polls.

First things first. A pic of Artest wearing the Golden Armor.

They took action shots, as well. Not sure why, but here is one.

                                Some quotes from the presser

Mitch - "Ron is a better player"- it became apparent that we couldn't sign Trevor along with the Yao Injury, so we moved quickly to get Ron
                                "Kobe has 4 Rings, I have none . . Lamar has 1, I have none . . I want one real bad . . I need one . . . need one man!"
"I came into the NBA WILD, but I want to continue to build on my legacy . . I want to leave on top of my game! Money isn't important to me!"
Ron respects Kobe for doing anything to win, but then said "i can't do anything to win because I'll get suspended!"
"If you take that brawl away, I've become a better person . . . I'm happy it's over . . 5-6 years removed from that situation"
"Once again, I'm probably underpaid, but it's okay . . at the end of the day, if you can't live with $33M, you can't live"
It was kind of a no-brainer to sign . . . . if you know how to play the game of basketball, there's not going to be a problem to adjust"
