Amazing that the Giants can fork out $55 million this year for three pitchers, Lincecum Cain Zito, that they get nothing from in the series and still win it. If I was a GM and could get any player I wanted I think I would go with Posey, he comes along and they win three in five years and the year he was out with an injury they were terrible.

This team is amazing and it shows how good of a manager big head Bochy really is.
Gregor Blanco hit .130 in the Series.
Joe Panik was in Double-A to start the year and is the 9th second basemen the Giants have used this year he was a last ditch effort. Not only did he make some huge defensive stops but the kid can hit. (I hope Dan uggla gets a full playoff share after going 0-20 with 18ks and 4 errors, if not for him we never call up Panik)
Buster Posey hit .154 in the world series.
Travis Ishikawa had 7 career appearances in left field before the post season. He also only hit .231.
Pablo and Pence carried this team offensively. Pablo hits .430 in the world series and over .400 in the post season yet he was never even considered for the MVP.
The starting pitchers were terrible outside of Madbum. Lincecum did nothing all post season, heading in to the year Cain was right there with Madbum carrying that #1 starter mantle and he missed pretty much the entire season.
Michael Morse is a retread that went 2 months between homeruns.
It is unbelievable that they are in this position. This franchise not only knows how to win but they expect to win.
I still can't believe it.*Banned*

I also can't believe it. The Giants franchise is the 2nd best argument for how the playoffs are so luck dependent.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostZito came off the books last year.

I just watched that on youtube. Hilarious. Baumgarner looked unruffled but a little perplexed. Selig seemed to think he wasn't in the shot. And whats her name is the highest paid mic stand in history.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostThe ultralovable Chevy Guy's dazzling postgame performance is getting excellent notices throughout the land. I also enjoyed the WashPo's observation that Bud Selig was playing Abbot to Chevy Guy's Costello. And "Rikk Wilde" is the best porn name since George Costanza's Buck Naked.PLesa excuse the tpyos.

On KNBR (THE Sports Leader) they reported that when asked by the media what his son was like, MadBum's father said "that boy would steal a steak off the Devil's plate." No idea what that means, but it was sort of amusing.PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I wish I had the nerve my buddy did. He bet $1,000 on the series. I only bet $500 on game 1 when he said the Giants would win that one.
I will see how good a friend he is. I am going to tell him I asked him for half his action on the series and he told me yes. Sadly he is 15 years younger than I am and my golf partner. He thinks I am old and senile and have a poor memory. He will probably rely on his memory.

Good news, funk! You can just ignore the playoffs and pretend that the statistical leaders in the preseason are the champs. Nobody will care if you do.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostI also can't believe it. The Giants franchise is the 2nd best argument for how the playoffs are so luck dependent.

You've been getting a lot of that lately. A lesser man wouldn't be able to take it.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI wish I had the nerve my buddy did. He bet $1,000 on the series. I only bet $500 on game 1 when he said the Giants would win that one.

For a minute there, I actually thought it wouldn’t be that bad. In the 7th inning, everyone in the bar was singing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and the atmosphere was friendly and jubilant. Even when Sandoval caught the final foul and people poured out onto Mission Street, everyone seemed like they just wanted to spray Champagne on each other and honk their horns. And then a 4th of July mortar blew up in a crowd at the intersection of 19th and Mission.Read more about the fun here: http://www.thebolditalic.com/article...e-mission-lostSomeone started ghost riding their Oldsmobile, then the cops came, then the shit hit the fan. The first round of SFPD officers was so pitifully outnumbered that they just turned around and left as one caught a beer bottle straight to the helmet. Someone lit a Royals effigy on fire and people started piling anything flammable on top of it.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

With Perez coming up to bat, and his tendency to chase bad pitches (at least from what I saw in the WS), I think the Royals would have had a better chance of the throw to home being offline than getting a hit out of Perez against Bumgarner.
Obviously in almost every circumstance you're better off holding at 3rd in that situation, but Bumgarner was almost unhittable the entire series. What are the chances that Perez was going to get a hit off Bumgarner? What's the chance that the throw is offline? Even if the throw is offline, is Gordon so far away from the plate that Posey has the time to pull the ball in and get in front of the plate? With Perez at bat, I felt there was 0% chance that he was going to hit off Bumgarner. If Gordon just tries to run home, maybe there's a 10% chance.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
