Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

The 162 games is the best part of baseball.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI enjoyed this game last night.
Playoff baseball is pretty fun to watch. Slogging through 162 games to get to it? Not so much.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

This season sucked. It frankly was the worse season that I've ever experienced following the A's. The seasons where the A's sucked and were trying to build were much better. The previous offseason collapses were not nearly as bad because they often involved spectacularly bad luck and it isn't like the A's had mortgaged the entire future a playoff run.
Beane was an idiot this year. He saw the collapse coming, panicked, and made a terrible future killing trade. Now the collapse was worse than anyone reasonably could have expected, but there were absolutely signs that it was coming.
Norris wasn't going to produce like he did in the first half. Moss wasn't going to produce how he did in the first half. Beane is not an idiot and he certainly saw his players BABIP and knew that there was going to be regression to the mean. This team was never going to be a World Series winner, short of some fluke luck in the postseason. You don't trade a big time prospect on the hope of getting that luck.
I stood alone criticizing the Russell trade on here. I hate that I was right about that trade. It was inexcusably bad. It was Utah losing to Wazzu bad.
The good news is that hockey is back and I can enjoy watching the Blackhawks win their third Stanley Cup.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

When you have only followed a team for 3 years, how can the only time they make the playoffs be the worst season?Originally posted by mpfunk View PostThis season sucked. You really are slipping. I mean you can do a lot better than that especially considering it makes no sense. If I was only an A's fan for 3 seasons, I would have enjoyed seeing them in the playoffs each of those season.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostWhen you have only followed a team for 3 years, how can the only time they make the playoffs be the worst season? As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Blackhawks: my older brother was a Blackhawks fan and when I started to get into hockey they had Roenick, Chelios, and Belfour on the roster. It was the easy choice, but I did not know of the evil that lurked in Bill Wirtz owning the team.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postfunk, have you ever posted a genealogy of your sports allegiances? i'd be interested in reading it because there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to any of them.
Utes: This is self explanatory. It is in the local team and there is simply no good reason to be a BYU fan.
Falcons: I never really settled into an NFL team. I jumped around for a long period of time. I would jump around to teams that had Utes on them. I decided that I needn't to pick a team and stick with it. Falcons had Jamal Anderson emerging as a great RB, so I went with the Falcons in 1996 and have stuck with them.
A's: I hated baseball. I didn't understand the game and didn't realize what made the game great. I read Moneyball and learning about advanced stats helped me appreciate the game. I'm an A's fan because of Moneyball.
Utah Jazz: local team, so really the only option. I followed the Blazers as well because of my time in Portland. It became fun to troll as a Blazer fan on cougarboard, so I played the role of Blazers fan first for a period of time. When I realized how much the Blazer fan act hurt Mark Grace, I dropped it.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression
