I still can't believe that we have Hjammer looked up on a long term deal at 4.1 million per season. He is our best defenseman right now and a huge bargain. Way to go Stan.

I thought the Bruins made a mistake trading Seguin. He was far too talented to give up on that early in his career. They needed to follow the guide of the best franchise in the salary cap era and give the young player time to mature (see Patrick Kane).

Well Seguin in 15 games has 6 goals and 9 assists. Louis Eriksson has 2 goals and 1 assist on the season. Reilly Smith has been producing better at 1 goal and 7 assists, but he isn't going to be a player on Seguin's level.

Great article on Chris Chelios. Of all the dark days in Blackhawks history none tops the trading of Chris Chelios to the Red Wings for Anders fucking Erickson. Chelios was a Chicago native and he should have ended his career in Chicago. I don't blame him for eventually embracing the Red Wings and becoming one of them, but I really don't like that it happened.

Well, its going to be a long season without Stamkos!! Hopefully the team can rally and stay the course until he returns, but that injury looked pretty bad. Might be gone for the season.

It is becoming readily apparent that the West is far and away superior to the East. I guess there is a reason the Red Wings were running scared and it wasn't just the Blackhawks. The only reason the Wings are even over .500 is playing in the East, if they were in the West they would be out of the playoff picture pretty easily.

2 best teams in the NHL are the Blackhawks and Blues. Both in the West and in the same division. I realize the Blues are a few points behind, but I still believe in that team. Avs have obviously been great, but I'm not sold enough to put them ahead of these 2 proven teams. However, they are in the mix for top 3. Throw in the Ducks and San Jose and you have the top 5 teams all in the West. This isn't even taking into account the sleeping giant the Los Angeles Kings. You could argue that there are more than 5 teams in the West better than anyone in the East.

There are 8 teams in the West with as many points as the top team in the East and the top team just lost a huge part of their team. The West is going to be a blood bath in the playoffs.

While you have a valid point about the West being superior to the East, its great to see that one East team is 5-0 against the West (including 2-0 against your mighty Blackhawks ). Thats right!!! GO BOLTS!!!!!

But without Stamkos, I just don't see how the Lightning make the playoffs this year. We don't have enough secondary scoring and still have a very young team. Its a double whammy for Steve Yzerman (both Lightning GM and Team Canada GM).

Blackhawks sign a bridge contract with Andrew Shaw. 2-years and estimated at a value of 2 million per season. Nice deal to lock up a few more years to see if he continues to progress.

It is a damn shame that Stamkos is out. He was putting up some insane numbers. Guy had 14 goals in 17 games. It would have been fun to see him chase for 70 goals.

Stan Bowman is smart, with the exception of the Crawford deal.

Blackhawks trade 2 low end prospects for VerSteeg and Florida is paying half his salary. Bowman is smart.

Awesome that Versteeg is back! I was pretty sad to lose him after the first cup.

Now we need to convince the Jets to pay Ladd's salary to have us take him back.

So they are putting Versteeg as RW on the 3rd line. I'm very happy with the luxury of a 3rd line of Bickell-Shaw-Versteeg. Versteeg is thrilled with the move.
                                http://www.suntimes.com/sports/23776...lackhawks.html

I'm really happy with the top 3 lines of this team.

Sharp-Toews-Hossa (I'm really hoping the Q-Stache keeps this line together)
                                Saad-Pirri-Kane

If the team can continue to perform offensively with Kane and Toews on separate lines, it is going to make them a really tough team to stop. I love what Kaner and Toews can do on the same line, but if you separate them and are still getting production it makes it tougher on the other team
