Versteeg with a goal and an assist in his 2nd game back with the Blackhawks. 3rd star of the game in a 5-1 victory over a very good Sharks team.

The rich get richer and only have to pay for 1/2 of the salary.

Loved the win over the Sharks. They crapped the bed on Saturday though. Crawford is not living up to his contract so far. You an I are in agreement that his signing was their biggest mistake.

Good news is Crawford is putting up good enough stats that we may be able to move him if Raanta comes in and performs.

It certainly could be worse, Bowman could have traded one of the best young centers (who is starting a 6 year deal with a cap hit of only 5.6 million per year) in the game for Loui Eriksson, Joe Morrow, Reilly Smith, and Matt Fraser.

Seguin has been the star that people thought he was going to be. I'm glad the Blackhawks didn't make the same mistake with Kane that the Bruins did with Seguin.

With Hossa's current injury it is showing even more why this Versteeg deal was such a great move. He is covering for Hossa on the 1st line and producing on that line. He has familiarity with Toews and it works out well to just plug him in.

I'm really liking the way this team is built.

NHL franchise values are out. The Canadian teams doing really well with 3 of the top 6. Rangers are the highest valued US franchise with the Blackhawks at 2nd.

Also, the West is not just better than the East is it is ridiculously better. Boston the top team in the East right now would be out of the playoffs in the West.

I'm really disappointed with the play of Corey Crawford. Everyone has bad games, but it is happened too often for Crawford. His .901 save percentage in November is not getting it done nor is giving up 2.5 goals per game. Seeing him chased in only 13 minutes in a big game against Colorado was unacceptable. Bowman made mistake on this one. I fear that he is going to end up being a trade and we are going to have to take on part of his salary. For a team that has managed the cap so well, this move continues to make no sense.

Agree completely. I was pretty down on the signing. The rookie looked decent when he came in for him against the Colorado. I think we should have let him go sign a mid level guy and see what the rook can do. I like Crawford just fine but he is not worth his contract.

Blackhawks back on top of ESPN's power rankings. Frankly, it was ridiculous that they weren't on top before.

Lately, Duncan Keith has been playing like the player who won the Norris trophy. This team is great with Keith playing at his normal level, but if he kicks it up a notch this team just becomes scary good.

It is still pretty damn ridiculous how much better the west is than the east. I'm ranking the top 5 it is Blackhawks, Blues, Sharks, Kings (I still believe they are going to kick it into gear), and Avalanche (although I'm still somewhat skeptical).

The 3 elite teams are the Blackhawks, Blues, and Kings. No one in the east is even close to the level of those 3.

I know this is not the NHL; it's the WHL, but awesome charity stunt anyway.

Patrick Kane is the best player in the NHL right now. 2nd in points and he has rebounded from his early start and is now at a +5. He has improved on his career year from last year and I'm not entirely sure that he has capped his potential yet. This is why you don't trade a young extremely talented player that likes to party a bit too much, because if/when they settle in the rewards are great.

Patrick Sharp is now top 10 in points. Sharp has consistently and continues to be underrated. Sharp started slow with only 2 goals in October, but in November/December he has 13 goals. If he can keep up his pace over the past 2 months, Blackhawks could have 2 top 5 scorers.

This team is still very good.

Blackhawks get Bickell back tonight. It will be really nice to have him back in the lineup.

Stanley Cup this year is a 4-team race and 3 of the teams are in the West. Blackhawks, Ducks, Blues, and Penguins. The Kings, Bruins, and Sharks are on the fringe right now.

Blackhawks need to get through the stretch of mediocre play and get back on track.

Sorry to interrupt this Blackhawks only thread , but I think the Penguins will choke it away like they usually do in the playoffs. That is Fleury's M.O. Great in the regular season, awful in the post season. I think Boston is the team to beat out of the East. They play good d, and their goalie (Rask) is pretty dang good.

I love the way my Bolts are playing, especially without Stamkos, but they don't have the experience to go far in the playoffs. But I love the core group we have. Stevie Y has built an amazing young pool of talent.

Blackhawks in a serious slump right now. It has been a season and a half since they have a slump like this one. It is not enjoyable.
