KVN will likely miss the season opener due to an abdominal injury that may or may not be a sports hernia:

"What choice?" - Abe Petrovsky

WTH. Didn't they give him that hernia test before he could play football this year?Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Yes. "Sport's" hernia is an injury to the soft tissues (muscle, ligament, tendon) of the lower abdominal wall or groin.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI've seen this referenced as a "sports" hernia a couple places. Is that somehow different than just a regular old hernia?
Regular hernia is a protrusion of abdominal contents through a natural defect in the abdominal wall.
A sports hernia can progress to a regular hernia if the injury doesn't heal and there remains a weak area in the abdominal wall."You interns are like swallows. You shit all over my patients for six weeks and then fly off."
"Don't be sorry, it's not your fault. It's my fault for overestimating your competence."

Dallas Reynolds just pancaked Ziggy. Sorta - it was mostly after the play, but he put Ziggy on his back.

How do you tell the difference between a sports hernia and an abdominal strain? If, hypothetically speaking, someone were to do an intense ab workout and then feel a sudden pulling in his lower abdomen when kicking a soccer ball warming up the next day, would that be a strain? Also, this person hypothetically has difficulty running, sitting up, or coughing without pain.Originally posted by hostile View PostYes. KVN is feeling good. I'm excited to see him get of IR and play.

Apparently Detroit gave him a designation that won't allow his return until early November, regardless of when he's ready to play. He said that on the radio the other day.Originally posted by SCcoug View PostKVN is feeling good. I'm excited to see him get of IR and play.
